Anyone else planning on calling Berk tomorrow and asking Dean Tom to be their valentine? No? Just me?

You may be saying notsureifsrs, and I'm not. Not really.

I feel like I've been held/WL'd at so many schools, due to taking big risks on my PS/DS/app, I feel like I really want to try something crazy like that at one of them. I mean, literally, my numbers are 3.4/167, and I am held at H, no word from S, ED Hold at Columbia, W/L Chi, no word from NYU, a (rare) hold at Penn, W/L at UVA, FR at Berk, no app to Duke (Hate the South), Held at NU, EA defer at Cornell, anddddd IN at GULC. Dinged so far only at Mich and Yale. Granted, W/L / HOLD is far from an admit, but I feel like I at least did something right.

So yeah, I am being mostly facetious. If I was already in at Berk, I would want to try it at a school of lower preference on my list, but Berk is undoubtedly at the top tier of my list so no dice there.

Anyway, just burning up my anxiety for the upcoming weeks decision. Good luck everyone.

I haven't found a better bean than that roasted by Stumptown, and judging by his homage to Portland, neither has Campagnolo.

Yea seriously. That single call yesterday just ended up making me feel way more pessimistic for a multitude of reasons.

Yeah seriously, me too. Berkeley is legit my dream school. The two schools I've gotten into so far (Penn and UVA) don't provide equally solid means of entering the CA legal market :(

Aspen, because you're a California person, I'm hoping you know this.

So as far as West Coast is concerned, I've been to San Francisco and Seattle. Would that give me a sense of what Berkeley is like? I'm a solid East Coaster.

I'm actually originally from the East Coast as well but Berkeley is awesome! I was living in San Francisco (in The Castro) for awhile and loved SF but going to Berkeley was always so fun. There's so many great restaurants (and the best place ever....YogurtLand!!!!), a lively young scene (which San Francisco kinda lacks compared to some East Coast cities but then again I was living in The Castro not like SoMa) and often when the fog rolls in its a bit warmer than SF. I really like the spontaneity of Berkeley/SF as well which a lot of East Coast cities lack. Also, the scenery is just breathtaking, especially when coming from cities like Boston, DC and NY. I mean just looking around and seeing all these natural beautiful landscapes everyday really relaxes you.

Is that a joke?

edit: okay that was kind of mean but aren't there a ton of better "dessert/yogurt" places then YogurtLand in the Berkeley vicinity?

Yea if you wanna pay 7 bucks for something microscopic....besides the other ones have dumb names.... Yogurt Park and Yogurt Harmony :P. Obviously its not like the best thing about Berkeley. I just love going to that place... its so much cheaper than all the yogurt places on the East Coast!

Oh haha okay, it's just that YogurtLand is fairly ubiquitous in California so I'm not sure if I would label it as Berkeley-specific but I get what you're saying.

Yeaa but the reason I mentioned it is because Yogurt Land is more a SoCal thing. There's not a single one in San Francisco. There's a couple in the South Bay and East Bay and that's it....unlike LA where there's only like every centimeter.

Thanks for the congrats. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you guys. I am sure many, many more decisions are going to go out this week. Also, just to chime in on the Yogurtland conversation... as my username indicates, I was born and raised a West Coast girl. I can confirm that we do indeed have the BEST frozen yogurt in the country. You know how prevalent Dunkin Donuts is in East Coast cities? Where I live, that's replaced with froyo. There's a store on every corner. It's amazing!

Thanks! Super informative!

Someone I know from Seattle says Berkeley can be grungy, but I assume this is in the cool awesome way and not the sketchville way?

No problem! Yea I mean parts of it aren't the fanciest place ever but it's not really scary or dangerous. My ex was from Santa Barbara and he said that the first time he drove up to the campus he was like ughh eww wtf....largely because when you exit off I-80 the stretch between downtown and the campus is kinda gross. There's also some parts that are kinda sketchy but its really not that bad.

G'morning everyone!

Today is the day of judgment.

Last year, most people who got in found out on Wednesday in the late afternoon (EST).

Rembmer: no matter what, if you get in or if you're rejected, you can always have a fancy girl drink. Cosmos, Mojitos, something. They can't take that away. ;)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
