Just went under 2nd Committee Review today. Originally went complete back on 10/7 and was under 1st Committee Review with the first batch of folks.

I know it says on the status checker that some apps will be accepted with only 1 read... but that it does not necessarily mean if you go into 2nd read it is a bad thing

Yah... Ugh. This new 1st/2nd thing still makes me uneasy though.

I'm getting a little worried. I applied around 10/25 and have been complete since 10/28 with no other updates since then. I'm above their 75th for GPA and at the 75th for LSAT so I can't imagine I was auto-dinged. Any thoughts?

Hmm weird... Well a few things could be going on. Maybe you are being YPed. Did you happened to make a mistake on your app? Say by substituting UCLA instead of USC? Or its possible that they are just really slow.jdsurf wrote:I'm getting a little worried. I applied around 10/25 and have been complete since 10/28 with no other updates since then. I just poured over my application and the only thing is a missing "s" in a word in my PS. I already knew about that and fixed for subsequent applications. I would hope that doesn't make the difference, right?msblaw89 wrote:Hmm weird... Well a few things could be going on. Maybe you are being YPed. Did you happened to make a mistake on your app? Yea, I don't think that would affect anything. I had I think 3 typos and I was accepted. Just be patient I'm sure you will hear something soonjdsurf wrote:I just poured over my application and the only thing is a missing "s" in a word in my PS. dude, no. a lot of TLS will tell you that your application is 99% lsat/gpa anyway. i doubt they care about one missing letter as long as the rest of the PS is well-written anyway.jdsurf wrote:I just poured over my application and the only thing is a missing "s" in a word in my PS. FWIW, my app is being totally ignored too. i think i applied 11/2, complete 11/3, and silence since. then again, i'm convinced i'm in auto-ding territory with 3.4/167/mexican urm.

Well it looks like Brush is the only one that moved to 2nd committee... :/
And from the above posts I'm surprised there hasn't been another wave of 1st committee reviews, don't really get what's happening with USC

2nd committee review isn't a good sign, right? At least according to their website it seems as though a 2nd review means you were not deemed worthy of acceptation after one review so another review was necessary.

From the USC website:
"It is entirely normal for a large number of our applications to receive a second committee review and it should not be taken as a sign (positive or negative) regarding the outcome of your application."

I don't know, TheRedMamba. The site also says not to view it as a positive or negative signal about your chances. I'm sure some people get in with just 1 review, and some people get in with 2 reviews.Brush has super solid numbers, especially for USC, so I'm sure it'll be fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

It worries me a little bit that I apparently I need to have my app reviewed again, especially since I'm over both 75ths. I keep telling myself that maybe it's for scholarship consideration...

Re: USC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Well that makes me feel better. One theory is that not all apps make it to committee and it's just a dean or staff decision. USC is much more transparent with their status checker than other schools.horrorbusiness wrote: dude, no. a lot of TLS will tell you that your application is 99% lsat/gpa anyway. i doubt they care about one missing letter as long as the rest of the PS is well-written anyway.

Sent 10/29 and complete on 10/31, no movement since. Although tbh I wasn't expecting anything from USC till January so I'm not too concerned about the silence.

I have been complete since 10/6. Any thoughts or recs? Is this the dreaded auto-ding, ding, ding?
