You can submit prior to them all being in, but the school won't review your app until it is "complete." However, the determination of "complete" is based on their requirement, not on what you put. So I have 4 LORs, submitted to UVA when only 3 were in and received a decision prior to the 4th being submitted. LSAC did send it on when it came in, but obviously it wouldn't have any sway since a decision had already been made. Almost all schools say they have the same policy -they consider the file complete when all required materials are in. The problem I could see arising is that some consider 1 LOR enough - unless your missing LORs are all submitted/processed by LSAC at roughly the same exact time, you might be evaluated by some schools before your 2nd comes in and that might impact the decision if a really strong LOR is missing I suppose.acadec wrote:Eh?acadec wrote:Rookie question: do you have to wait until your LORs are in to CAS in order to submit an app?

I'm surprised no decisions have been issued. I expected today to be the day. Surely by the end of the week right? There were admittances on LSN on the 19th last year with 9/15 submission...

Agreed. I submitted at 12:05 and no word yet. I've probably checked the status checker a few dozen times so far.MumofCad wrote:I'm surprised no decisions have been issued. I don't think anyone went complete until the 19th this year. I'd expect the end of this week, though, to be when results start coming in.MumofCad wrote:I'm surprised no decisions have been issued. I agree. I'm guessing Friday, but I wouldn't be surprised if some decisions were issued tomorrow. I also wouldn't be surprised if nobody heard until the beginning of next week. Also, is there any chance of a weekend decision? I assume admissions offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, but you know what they say about assuming...Yeshia90 wrote:I don't think anyone went complete until the 19th this year. Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think weekend ones could totally happen. I skimmed through last year's threads when applying and I noticed that several people got acceptance emails from Duke at midnight on Fridays and what not. So...anythings possible. Especially if they feel they are running a little behind. I doubt they were too swamped though with applicants since we know the pool should somewhat decrease this year based on LSAT registrations.

They also have control over the size of the PT applicant pool, and I am sure they know exactly how many applicants they can handle while still staying within their 10-day turnaround.MumofCad wrote:I think weekend ones could totally happen. Submitted PT on 9/15. File went under review on 9/19. Not my top choice, but the appeal of knowing quickly whether I'm admitted convinced me to apply. (172 LSAT/3.93 GPA)

I have faith in you too! lol. Seriously, 172/3.93 is awesome. I wouldn't be suprised if you got into CCN on down (assuming no YP->waitlist), and you have a good shot at HYS, I think. What is your top choice?sdwhodat wrote:LOL, I'm so glad that somebody has faith in me!Yeshia90 wrote:Let me offer you a preemptive congratulations.sdwhodat wrote:Submitted PT on 9/15. YP and waitlisting pisses me off because I'm likely to go to a lower ranked school if they give me good scholarship money. That being said, my top choice is Harvard, though it is kinda a reach though I'm really hoping. They give out need-based scholarships up to the cost of tuition, which I would definitely qualify for. After that, my choices are Vandy, Emory, UVA, and (only because it's cheap and near home) Mississippi.sfreuden wrote:I have faith in you too! lol. Seriously, 172/3.93 is awesome. Harvard's median LSAT is a 173, but a 3.93 GPA is solid relative to their numbers, and your LSAT is only one point below median. I don't know if I would call it a "reach" for you - maybe an uncertain target? I think you have a good shot. Also, that is a very interesting list of other schools. Does Mississippi place strongly in your home region?sdwhodat wrote: YP and waitlisting pisses me off because I'm likely to go to a lower ranked school if they give me good scholarship money. Ole Miss alumnis tend to stick together cause they all they think that Ole Miss is better than Harvard (they're kinda deluded, lol). There's not a huge market, but I know I could probably be top of the class there, have little debt at the end, and get a decent job in Jackson or Memphis.sfreuden wrote:Harvard's median LSAT is a 173, but a 3.93 GPA is solid relative to their numbers, and your LSAT is only one point below median. This is how Alabama is, too. A lot of people in Birmingham/Huntsville/Mobile seem to prefer Alabama/Cumerland (Tier 4sdwhodat wrote:Ole Miss alumnis tend to stick together cause they all they think that Ole Miss is better than Harvard (they're kinda deluded, lol). I wouldn't necessarily MIND working in Jackson/Memphis/MS Gulf Coast. I'd probably get a gun for protection (Jackson and Memphis can be rough in places) but I'd be near home so that's a bonus.luxxe wrote:This is how Alabama is, too. I would never want to work in Birmingham/Huntsville/Mobile though.

Received priority track status from Duke after solicitation. Admissions dean asked for my reasons for wanting to apply before he gave it out. Gave the process a personalized feel, which was nice.
