I'll be there! I don't know that I really want to end up in CA, so I'm really looking forward to hearing from East Coast alumni.BrightLine wrote:Anyone going to the admitted students reception in New York?

You say that today because its 70 degrees, just remember when it was 12 degrees for a month or when it snowed once a week for 3 months.

Ha! It didn't just snow once a week, we had nonstop blizzards. Then, once the six-foot snow dunes finally melted, my street was completely covered in leftover garbage. On windy days, it was pretty hard to avoid getting smacked in the face with flying trash.BrightLine wrote:aaaaaah wrote:I'll be there! Okay, I'm now feeling better about the possibility of moving across the country. But 70, you say??

Just turned down their offer. Feel really guilty about it though. They'd been really friendly and welcoming and I loved my visit a lot but Michigan was just too good to turn down particularly given my family ties to northwest Ohio, my wife's job in the area, etc. Still hurts to say "no" to UCLA though. They were my first acceptance and I spent a long time imagining myself there and getting emotionally drawn into it.
Bye bye UCLA.

Who is leaning towards UCLA? I am most likely going to end up there myself. Where is everyone thinking of living? Any scholarship strategies that have worked?

Did people hear about scholarships with their acceptance call and/or with their admittance package via snail mail (i.e. if I see nothing does that mean no $$)?

You can always ask UCLA to reconsider your financial aid in light of offers from other schools. In my experience though, they are not exactly willing to match peer or better schools, but they may offer something.JJDancer wrote:90% sure no mention in call = no $$pkt63 wrote:Did people hear about scholarships with their acceptance call and/or with their admittance package via snail mail (i.e. if I see nothing does that mean no $$)?

Re: In @ UCLA (for class of 2014)
My situation is similar . . . I sent my email about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything. UC Davis is apparently out of money already--I'm worried UCLA is too. Hopefully, spring break is the reason for the silence.Bildungsroman wrote:Haha, forgot about that.
