Sounds like you had an amazing semester, philly, and I don't see why you couldn't show it off even if it's grad school grades. Can't hurt!
I know it can't hurt, and I sent it already. I just wonder if it will really give me a little lift. I really want in, but know that it is a very very tall task.
We'll never know, but at least you'll feel good having done all you could.

Sorry to double-post, but would anyone care to swap LOCIs?

Can we have additional LORs be submitted by mailing it in (as mentioned for LOCIs), or do they have to go through LSAC. I am going to ask someone to write one who wasn't on fole for my others and really gear it to Harvard.

I'm pretty sure someone in the Held thread last year included the LOR in their LOCI mailing directly to HLS. If I remember correctly, they had their professor seal and sign the flap of the LOR envelope and then wrote their name and LSAC # on the front. Apparently HLS lets you send LORs directly to them if you've surpassed the limit for LORs allowed on LSAC. This person didn't actually surpass the limit but elected to send it directly to them anyway.

From the HLS admissions office:
If you’ve reached the 4 letter limit on LSAC, your recommender is welcome to submit his/her to letter to our office directly via postal mail only. Unfortunately, we cannot accept them via email or fax. Upon receipt, you’ll see the recommender’s name on your online status check.

See, I haven't reached the limit for them yet (only sent two), but since this is a new recommender, I don't want to have to deal with the delay of having it processed by LSAC if I don't have to.

The person I mentioned above didn't reach the limit either.

Yeah but since my grades only went up one hundredth of a point this semester I don't think my transcript is really going to help me. And I might send in a rec letter from one of my supervisors, but I don't see how that's really going to do anything. And I don't want them to think I'm uninterested if all is silent. So basically that just means they're going to get letter number 1,000,001 that I would still be interested in attending Harvard.

Lol, don't get me wrong, I'm still sending one. I just feel incredibly stupid for doing so.

Yes.

This persuaded me. My feelings on the matter change every other sentence...but then I'm like how can I not send one? Still feel incredibly silly though.

But you'd be stupid not to send one. What to do? I feel stupid either way. Hmmm that's about right, if I wasn't, I'd be in already!

I've decided that at this point it can't get much worse. If I get rejected/waitlisted and I sent a letter I did everything I could do to get in. If I don't send one and get rejected/waitlisted, then I will forever regret not doing everything in my power.
Mind you, at this point I'm considering sending a letter of continued begging (for admission) as opposed to contiued interest. I still feel stupid for sending a letter though.

Hopefully it's sooner than that! I feel like there should be at least some movement once the deadline passes and they have their full pool of applicants.

Has anyone faxed an LOR in? I'm debating whether to snail mail it to LSAC or fax it directly to them. In the interest of time, I'm leaning more towards the latter method but not sure how reliable it is. Thanks!

I snail mailed all of mine but the last one. I was so ready to submit and be done that I had it faxed. As far as I can tell, it is not a problem. In fact, mine showed up the same day it was faxed, so I found this to be a pretty awesome way to do it.

Thanks for answering so awesomely fast!

Yeah, that's exactly my mindset right now...just be done with it. Unfortunately I have just asked my professor so it will probably take another week or two before the LOR is even done. But looks like that's more of a reason to just get it faxed and off my mind!!

I do not know what this says about my life, but you are welcome!
Also, make sure you do not run up too close to school deadlines. I suppose if you have submitted it will be OK, but either way I would not want to chance them getting angry waiting on a LOR.

You're talking about the Feb. 1st deadline, right? Yeah, I'd hate to even vaguely annoy/pester HLS adcoms right now so treading carefully. On the other hand, I also can't annoy the prof who has agreed to write me a LOR on such a short notice.
Edit: typing on phone = typos galore

Does anyone know if a 5th letter of recommendation might actually help? I had 4 professors write me recommendations, and I can get one or two more. But I don't know how much new material it will contribute. I do however, have a practicing HLS alumni who im interning for... but im also considering just retaking the LSAT and reapplying next year and I don't want to use up all my chips. How many people actually get in off the holdlist, im a 171/3.83.
BTW, I got this e-mail reply back from Harvard admissions,

I don't want to do this and come off as an asshole......but, if you want Harvard, you're going to have to retake. Your GPA is not high enough to make up for your LSAT. A fifth letter of rec is not going to help you at all.
