Awesome! Make sure and reach out and speak to students. The 2Ls, who were 1Ls last year, were a big part of my decision to come here.conroyc wrote:I'll be visiting and sitting in on Dean Chemerinsky's Constitutional Analysis class next Thursday... Will let you all know how it goes!

JCK - that is our legal professions class. On Friday I believe we have a panel of in-house lawyers speaking with us. So it won't be a typical class but it should be interesting. You will get to learn a bit about what an in-house counsel does. Make sure you reach out and speak with students while you are visiting.jck4487 wrote:I'm coming to visit Irvine this Friday. Anybody have any insight on their turnaround time? For those who got decisions, about how long did it take from the time you submitted?

With your numbers, I'm sure you'll get in! When did you submit?pimpsdontcry wrote:congrats! might I ask your stats?

FWIW, I submitted 12/5 and got the phone call in early January. And I have modest numbers.

It was about 7 Eastern...so 4 in CA
I'm feeling pretty great about UCI...gotta see what other bites I get, but I was always thrilled at the idea of being a part of their school

Re: UC Irvine 2011 Applicants
I went and sat in on a class this Friday and did a tour and was thoroughly impressed. The administrative staff was extremely helpful and the 1Ls I met all were great. It seems like the students really support one another and are impressionably friendly. The kind of student the Irvine attracts became very clear, and that convinced me even more that I want go to Irvine.
FYI: They mailed at the official letters of acceptance on Friday. Packets should be following shortly.

Re: UC Irvine 2011 Applicants
Got the phone call on Friday as well. Best school im in so far, no denys, on hold at haravrd, penn, nw, and uva. Still no word from Ucla or Sc.
Question for anyone who knows: how many days a week do 1Ls typically have class at UCI? I live in Santa Monica and don't really want to move south. That said, I also don't want to be in the car two hours a day, five days a week.

I would not live in Santa Monica. If you really want to live by the beach, live in Newport Beach if you decide to go to Irvine. Two hours commuting would seriously put a dent into your ability to work out, go out, etc.snichols16 wrote:Got the phone call on Friday as well. Re: UC Irvine 2011 Applicants
We have class 5 days a week as a 1L. We have some folks commuting from LA or Riverside but I really don't know how they do it. Some 2Ls arrange their schedules to be M-W. I know one person commuting from LA takes the Metro. Last year UCLA and USC took so long to review applications, I just withdrew in April before they even gave me a response. After I went to Irvine's ASD I really didn't care what either of those schools did with my application - but that's me. FWIW I was a splitter. A lot of schools held or waitlisted me last year.snichols16 wrote:Got the phone call on Friday as well. Best school im in so far, no denys, on hold at haravrd, penn, nw, and uva. Thanks UCI2013. Good to know. I'll be driving, so I'm sure it won't be an issue. Perhaps i can find someone else who lives close by on the westside and we could drive together and utilize the express lanes.uci2013 wrote:We have class 5 days a week as a 1L. QueenLizzie: I currently live in SM and lived in Venice for five years before. I took my PhD from UCLA and all of my friends live in the area up here. The thing is, I know the trade offs between living up here and living down in OC... and I would MUCH rather do the commute than live down there. I just wanted to know if I would need to do that commute five days a week or three days a week. Plus, I can come down earlier or later in the day to surf, anyway.

I might just buy a house in irvine if i go down there (given they admit me). I can be convinced to give special room rental rates for fellow TLS members

Read uci2013's post more carefully. You will be having class every day as a 1L. Anyways, ultimately up to you, I'm just saying I would not suggest it. But to each their own.snichols16 wrote:Thanks UCI2013. Good to know. I'll be driving, so I'm sure it won't be an issue. Perhaps iuci2013 wrote:We have class 5 days a week as a 1L.
