Uh, is there a reason why you are holding your application for UM to retake a 167? That score is significantly above their median and I am sure you would get in....Is your GPA really bad??
I was going to ask the same thing. Unless your GPA is absolutely terrible, Miami would gladly accept a 167.
My GPA is a 2.44. I think "absolutely terrible" is a pretty good description.
I just searched LSN. Nothing comes up for the past two cycles, but for 08-09 someone was accepted with 2.6/167. And in 07-08 there are acceptances for 2.48/165 and 2.6/167. Obviously there are no guarantees, but at least that shows they've accepted those numbers in the past..
I don't want to offer advice though, because I really have no clue what I'm talking about...

so good luck with your next LSAT!

SixStrings11 makes a good point. And if the LSN data is accurate, then it should give you hope. On a similar note, do you have a good addendum to explain your GPA?

Fortunately, yes. I had undiagnosed severe depression exacerbated my mother's battle with cancer. I sent all of that off, with a killer PS, but I know that 2.44 is ABYSMAL. I weighed my options, and I'd much rather go in as a 2.44/170+/with a killer story than a 2.44/167/with a killer story. I think I'll still be alright.

Ohhhh I wish. Just applied this past weekend 2.7 gpa/ 160 LSAT.
Side question though for you guys... what do you think about me re-taking in Dec? (PTs were all in the 160 - 169 range)
Is it worth the risk?

Is there any chance for scholarship $ with a 3.7 and 161??
I'm also debating a retake in Dec. My PT's were 160 - 168 so I definitely scored in my lower range. Is it worth it and would there still be a chance for scholarship $ in Jan with a higher score? Miami is my top choice but I won't be able to attend without any $$.

Have you applied yet? I know if I was going to retake, I would register after I apply because often your app will not be reviewed until after they get that score [if its specified on the application]. If you are nervous, you could always retake in case of a waitlist scenario. I think you should be okay but I'm no expert.

Barbie - What makes you say that? Anything specific or just a hunch. I'm cool with either.

I say this because I have a lot of time on my hands

Scroll down a bit and note first decision dates:

It makes me really happy to see a non-URM with a 3.62/155 get accepted in mid-November

Anyone else considering one of the JD/LLM programs if going to Miami? I know other schools have them, too.. but UM's LLM in Ocean and Coastal Law in particular interested me.

Current UM law student. top 1%, law review, ivy league grad. I would urge those of you who aren't sure or who have gotten into better schools to think twice about UM. There's a lot of good to this school, but there's also a lot of downfalls, depending on what you want from your law career. I had the opportunity to transfer to Top10 school but stayed for the money--realizing it was a mistake. Most of the people at the top of the class can't even land jobs for next summer.

Yes, thanks for the update, Barbie. I was trying to be nice to UM...there's a difference between choosing a T14 as a 1L and as a transfer after you've done really well and have a full scholarship.

Woo hoo! I'm a Miami Hurricane! As you can tell by my screen name, I'm pretty excited about this lol. I'm going to need that scholarship money though to attend. Here's hoping I get it.
