I also submitted a one and a half page resume, which is apparently a big no-no -- reaaaally wish they'd posted those pointers when the app went up rather than a month and half after!)
Zatarra, mine was 1.5 pp. as well -- and it did seem a little silly for them to be issuing counter-CW advice months after they started accepting apps. But it doesn't seem like a make-or-break...

The blog post said it is not a deal breaker so I wouldn't characterize it as a "big no-no". If you have what it takes to qualify as a Yale admit, you probably will get accepted. I think they just don't want to read through 2 pages of things not worthy. I submitted 2 pages. In hindsight I could have used the QA pages for some of the stuff. Oh well, long shot anyway. Substance over form (and lack of).

Heh, if I only knew precisely what that entailed! You're right, I'm sure going a bit over won't merit an auto-ding, but when it comes to Yale, I'd feel a bit better if there weren't any 'sub-optimal' parts of my app! And more calls today (I feel like I ought to hide my phone to keep from blankly staring at the screen...)

I am guessing if you had enough stuff to fill out 2 pages then the sub-optimal parts aren't going to include your resume if you don't get accepted. I probably know this all too well, sadly.

in at Yale. ecstatic, obviously, but it's also a weird feeling knowing the admissions cycle is pretty much totally over for me at this point.

Yay! Congrats! I'm sure the weird feeling will transform into gleeful contentment soon enough.

Amazing. Congrats! It's funny (and nice) how much slower of a tempo the Yale acceptances come in than Harvard. CJ has to make so many fewer calls compared to JR.

For the record, I totally used the phrase "the law" in my PS.

(OK, I'll stop posting in this thread)

So happy for everyone who's gotten in so far!

Any idea of whether acceptances will be going out the rest of the week?

Congrats, all! If you know you're heading to YLS next year, come join the YLS thread in the Class of 2014 forum! Those of us on deferral have been looking forward to "new blood."

As I'm deferred, can't answer questions about what YLS is like (at least not from first-hand experience), but I'd certainly be happy to answer questions about why I chose it. =)

Congrats on the acceptance!!

Im starting to get kind of anxious about not applying to Y. Might throw an app that way if I get a positive decision from Stanford.

I can't believe it, but I just got the call from (203).

Also, I was totally unprepared and severely awkward on the phone. Oh well. I'm still speechless.

I also used "the law" so it's reassuring to see that it's not a total dealbreaker.

Though I do know how to do the entire Thriller dance...

Asha replied to my comment on her blog post by saying "I think you might be a law zombie. Just saying." I was first in line for the announcement of McDonald/Justice Stevens' last day on June 28, so I couldn't resist making the snarky comment. I'll definitely need a Thriller tutorial.

Apparently listing a non-academic high school accomplishment isn't a deal-breaker, either.

GOSH. I am totally new to this forum so I posted below as a NEW TOPIC, not as a reply to this board. I am embarrassed, but for some reason it wouldn't let me erase. forgive me if you are reading this twice.
-------------------------------------------------

Wow, just heard I am in. Totally unexpected and pleasantly surprised.
Now it's gonna be down to Harvard and Yale for me. Haven't thought too much about this since I didn't expect to get into both..
For those cross-admits, what are your thoughts? I guess I am more interested in the corporate side than academic side of the law, so maybe H will suit me better? Or am I way over-generalizing?

I'm also in that amazing position of choosing between Harvard and Yale. I'm not too much into corporate, so I don't think this will be too tough of a decision for me, as much as I love Cambridge...

Go to the application submit page and look at the .pdf file to see how much fit onto it, because sometimes it does not fully show on the online app the amount that is shown on the .pdf of your app that the law schools ultimately look at

hey thanks for the response but the preview for the application is where I actually noticed that it was cut off. So I went back to edit the application and tried to play around with it but nothing worked. It's pretty frustrating cause for the other applications even if something was cut off it still showed up in the transmitted pdf

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
