Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
I applied late to all of these schools
HYS - No (figured I'd try)
Chicago - feel free to get back to me some time
NYU - Yes
Penn - WL
UVA - WL
Boalt - No
Duke - WL
UCLA - WL
UT - No
Vandy - WL
USC - WL
Emory - WL
I got into one of my top choices, so I know I don't get to complain too much, but man was it annoying getting WL after WL.

I'm guessing you're a weak splitter...let's say 3.6/171-172?Tautology wrote:I applied late to all of these schools

Fairly strong splitter, 3.3-3.4/175-177, but I thought I'd at least get acceptances from the Emory/USC's of the world.im_blue wrote: I'm guessing you're a weak splitter...let's say 3.6/171-172?

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
I find solace in this thread.
3.3, 155, URM Male
Accepted:
Wake Forest
UMiami
Northeastern
Waitlisted:
Fordham
Emory
Columbia
Cornell (reserve)
No word:
Vanderbilt
Minnesota
Rejected:
BC
BU
Chicago
Georgetown
What should I do---this is my second time applying, can't wait any longer.

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
I would sweat out the waitlists. You are waitlisted at Columbia vs Northeastern. Thats a huge gap thats what she said. If it's meant to be, you'll get into one off the waitlist.elm84dr wrote:I find solace in this thread.

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
Let's stop listing W&M along with other waitlists, as it's more of an unabashed soft-reject than anything else. They barely rejected anyone.

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
I have taken a unique, personal approach to the wait lists I'm on, hopefully it pays off (I'll let you all know if it does.) I received word from Vandy, and guess what, WAIT LIST! It's funny at this point. I realize that with my numbers, it is tough to admit me, but there is something these admissions counselors like. I realize that Columbia and Northeastern are WORLDS apart, and I deposited at NEU Law, but I will leave if a spot at ANY of these open up.Generic20101L wrote:I would sweat out the waitlists. @ elm84dr:
Hey man, how sold on Wake are you at this point? Are they high on your list? or low? Have you worked out any scenarios where you could see yourself attending Wake in the fall if certain # of your other options don't come thru?? I'm just asking b/c I'm in sorta the same boat as you with similar numbers:
URM male, 2.9/153

Are you going to Wake? I'm not sure, I think I'm going to Northeastern as of now and wait out my waitlists. Your GPA may hinder you unless you have a VERY strong Upward trend.

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
Actually, I'm currently an 'admit-hold' (reserve) at Wake, which pretty much means that they'll only admit me once they know what their class/seat availability looks like sans their seat deposit deadline of June 15th...so I guess your leaning towards attending NEU or elsewhere could have a trickle down effect for candidates like myself.elm84dr wrote:GoGreenGoWhite wrote:@ elm84dr:

I don't have a single rejection but sooooo many waitlists.

WL'd at Chicago, Michigan, Columbia, held at Northwestern. More acceptances than WLs though, so I'm happy.

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
Ugh this thread is depressing. Maybe I should rethink my ED strategy. Did you guys write "why x" essays at the schools you were waitlisted at?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
