Despite the fact that I don't think it'll help that much, I figured I would still post here to give people hope. Today I started the withdrawal train:
Emory $$
W&M $$$
BU $$
Maryland
Cornell (pending)
Duke (WL)
Northwestern (WL)
Hope this gives some of you a fighting chance.

I'm learning so much here:finalaspects wrote:i understand your issue on this, but i can't understand your attitude over it. then again i don't understand putting up a nazi general as your icon picture that supported, murdered, and defended the country that committed atrocious crimes either.
A) Rommel was a Nazi?
B) He supported Germany, murdered Germany, and defended Germany?

A) All Officers in the German military took loyalty oaths. But Rommel appeared to be apolitical.redsox wrote:I'm learning so much here:finalaspects wrote:i understand your issue on this, but i can't understand your attitude over it. then again i don't understand putting up a nazi general as your icon picture that supported, murdered, and defended the country that committed atrocious crimes either.

B)Rommel didn't murder anyone. The Afrika Korps never committed atrocities and Rommel never complied with any orders to ship Jewish French, or Jewish POWs to camps.
Rommel was killed by the Nazi party after he join the conspiracy to murder Hitler.

my bf in germany had this really bad-ass map that showed what germany considered to be "germany" during the war, including a chunk of africa.Desert Fox wrote:A) All Officers in the German military took loyalty oaths. It is funny to us now but in 1939 almost every country in Africa was owned by a European power. The only reason it isn't still being done, is because America wasn't much for colonization, and the old European powers didn't have the economic and military power to hold onto their empires anymore.IAFG wrote:my bf in germany had this really bad-ass map that showed what germany considered to be "germany" during the war, including a chunk of africa.Desert Fox wrote:A) All Officers in the German military took loyalty oaths. it is REALLY funny to me bc my ex had no idea what it was, just put it up to have a map. like, didn't notice that the country borders didn't reflect reality.Desert Fox wrote:

Found this interesting...Desert Fox wrote:Forced suicide. His family was to be spared if he did it himself rather than face trial.redsox wrote:Well, he killed himself.Desert Fox wrote:Rommel was killed by the Nazi party after he join the conspiracy to murder Hitler.
Churchill, on hearing of Rommel's death:
"He also deserves our respect, because, although a loyal German soldier, he came to hate Hitler and all his works, and took part in the conspiracy to rescue Germany by displacing the maniac and tyrant. For this, he paid the forfeit of his life. In the somber wars of modern democracy, there is little place for chivalry."
