Does anyone know if one can negotiate the scholarship award so that the "top one-third" contingency isn't necessary?

Also, I applied to the faculty scholars award (166, 3.73) and it seems to me that the only difference between that and the 40K contingent scholarship is the 5K stipend they give in the Faculty Scholars...am I wrong?

You are right...from what I can tell. I have basically your same numbers and also applied for the scholarship. HOpefully we will hear this week.

The stipend is not contingent on your class ranking. You are guaranteed the $5k each year.

I would say that there are a few other "perks" to the award, but they aren't easy to quantify.

I have no idea if this is possible but I would sure try. The contingency would make life way too stressful and is actually pretty risky if you are like me and need the money to afford law school there (judging from what I have gathered from students take on law school grading). It would definitely be the biggest thing preventing me from attending Pepperdine. Although I still don't even know if I've been accepted yet let alone received a scholarship.

So my application has been sitting on incomplete since 1/17 since it says they are missing the hard copy of my LSDAS report (but looking at LSAC, I know that was sent just a couple days after that). Looking at LSN, it seems Pepperdine tends to take a week or two to go complete, but I'm getting a little antsy. For the other people that had to wait a couple weeks, was it because they were missing your LSDAS report? Or missing something else? Just wondering if I should be concerned or if they just take a long time.

If I remember correctly, my status checker was on "incomplete" for about 2 weeks. I was starting to get concerned and when I was about to call it changed. Dont know if this helps any.

yeah my report was something like a week and a half late and I didn't go complete until then

I just got a voicemail and am supposed to be getting an email follow up. Flying out there February 27th-March 1st (I believe) for interview. He said they were inviting 15 finalists.

From what he told me when I visited last month, there is no set number on how many they can give out. It is just more of a chance to get to know the ones they picked and see if Pepperdine and the scholarship are a good fit.

Mine did the same. Last night the entire status box was blank. As I look at it now, my complete date has changed from 1/27 to 2/2. Not really a big deal as it is only a few days, but I am curious as to what happened.
