DOJ Honors - Info on NSD?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:32 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for more detailed information on the nature of NSD's participation in DOJ Honors. Do they only have 1 spot each year (I've heard this before, though the website says 3-5 slots per year)? And is a clerkship required (or soft required)?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Participation in honors programs is entirely voluntary and how many hires a component makes, or whether they even participate at all, varies a lot by the year, depending on the administration and funding and so on. (Plus there isn’t a hugely meaningful difference in your chances between 1 slot and 3-5, so not sure it really matters.)

Anecdotally, I think a clerkship is a significant bonus and extremely common.

But also, Trump just rescinded all the Honors offers for this fall, so I wouldn’t be confident about what happens in the next couple of years.
