DoJ HP v. Air Force JAG

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Nov 20, 2024 2:05 pm

I've been fortunate to receive offers from a litigating component of the DoJ Honors Program and the Air Force JAG and am having a hard time deciding. The Air Force is attractive because of the opportunities to travel, to be a generalist, relatively higher pay, and the opportunities to gain more responsibility quickly; the DoJ is attractive because it's much more certain than the Air Force and not conditional on clearing medical, it's where I would most likely want to end up after the Air Force if I were to go there first, prestige, and the work-life balance at my component is very good notwithstanding trial schedules.

Am I stupid for even considering letting DoJ Honors go?

Edit: Confirmed my Honors position, ty all :)

DOJ makes sense to me because it’s where you ultimately want to end up. It seems like there’s no point in “waiting” to jump to DOJ from the Air Force JAG. And you don’t know if there’s a hiring freeze or something down the road that could hinder your chance to get into the DOJ.

Have you considered DoJ + Air Reserve?

Yeah fair enough, honestly had not even considered the possibility of hiring freezes but you're right that could really throw things off down the road.
