I got a USAJobs notification for the FCC's Honors Program. I'm now looking for the listing on the USA Jobs sight but it's nowhere to be found.

Did other people see something similar? The email notification I have says they are accepting apps from Oct 10 - Nov 18.

If I haven’t heard from FDIC at this point are we assuming it’s a no?
I wouldn't say so. They are definitely interviewing through this month.

Just wanted to add that I received a verbal offer from CFPB last week for their Office of Supervision Policy. I believe that every office is on their own timeline, and I confirmed that it is possible to receive offers from multiple offices for the CFPB Honors Program.

If a particular honors program is your #1 choice, would telling the point of contact about an offer from a law firm speed the decision process up or do agencies not care about that?

Regarding DHS. I emailed to check about the second round since I hadn’t heard. They said I didn’t receive a second round interview and it was a “very competitive field.” So I assume second round interview notifications already went out.

I think you can ask them what their timeline looks like as you have another offer with a deadline of [date], but they’re not likely to be able to change the timeline very much. There tend to be fairly strict procedures around hiring (welcome to the feds). It might depend a little on how many people they’re hiring - like there might be more flexibility for one slot than for multiple - and where they are in the interview process.

They are fairly likely to congratulate you on the offer and say there’s nothing they can do, though.

Did you do two interviews or just one round?

Just one round for Supervision, but I know other offices within CFPB conduct multiple rounds.

I interviewed with the OCC and was told to let them know about competing offers if any came up.

Real question, not trying to be political.

What are the implications for honors programs? Slashing? Rug pulling? Installing thousands of sycophants?

I imagine some agencies, OCC or FDIC for example, won't have much of a change. DOL maybe not as much.

Do we think the election will impact CFPB hiring? Project 2025 explicitly calls for them to shutter

Hiring for this cycle? No. That was set in advance and will be complete by EOY.

First year on the job for '25 new hires, and hiring future cycles? Absolutely. Unlikely Trump will shutter the agency, but working there will be difficult.
