2024-2025 Honors Attorney Program (BigFed, Non-DOJ)

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Aug 11, 2024 2:26 pm

Howdy folks, thought I'd start this off given that several agencies began accepting applications this month.

I've heard from an attorney there that hiring for the SEC is frozen right now, which is why they haven't opened the Chair's Attorney Honors Program on August 1st as they usually do. If someone has more background about the budget constraints, it'd be great to know if we should assume that the SEC just won't be hiring this cycle.

Anyone know the status of the FTC program? I believe the new program would have had its first honors attorney class start this fall, but I am curious how many people were hired and whether the program will continue this year.

There were 5 slots last year; my understanding is that those were filled, and these hires will start shortly. Given that the agency's budget situation is pretty dire at the moment, I expect that the honors program will be put on hold, but we haven't gotten official word on this.

Has anyone heard back from any programs yet about interviews? Specifically FDIC or CFPB?

If any of these offices do OCI at your school, you’ll hear back pretty quickly as part of the OCI schedule, but if not, they probably won’t interview until October-ish.
