That’s right—posted here cause I figured post-bar folks are likely also looking at this thread.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 12:48 pmWas looking at this, but it appears this is only for folks who have already passed the bar, rather than 3Ls?MeanieTeanie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 6:16 pmFYI the application period for LA Public Defender I opens tomorrow. Did FD SD make any offers yet? Have they given a time table for making decisions?

Tried to tell everyone. But the chances of any NYC PD offices hiring entry levels at all this year is near zero. Laterals who are fully felony certified have some shot. The budget situation is really really badAnonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 5:15 pmLegal Aid NYC officially in a hiring freeze for PD applicants, per email that went out ~an hour ago.

CPCS is also freezing hiring until 2022, found out today.
But VA has a TON of new positions, with everything opening officially on Feb. 1- if folks still need jobs, definitely look there!

Yeah, I've been told San Diego Federal has filled 5 out of 8 positions so far.

Which office will be better for becoming a trial attorney? Miami Dade PD or SD Federal?

State PDs will go to trial significantly more than Feds, partly based on sheer volume of caseload being higherAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:21 pmWhich office will be better for becoming a trial attorney? Miami Dade PD or SD Federal?

Re: Public Defender Applications - 2021
I wanted to get some thoughts from here. I got an offer from FD of San Diego, and I'm leaning toward accepting. However, I just saw that PDSDC is hiring a class, and it's an organization I've always wanted the opportunity to work for and in the area I wanted. Do you all think it's worth it to shoot an application there. I doubt the FD of San Diego would wait, so this is likely all moot. Any thoughts?

Maybe I'm out of the loop but I'm pretty sure PDSDC apps were due on the 11th. The app is no longer up on their website.

Accepted a position with Phoenix Federal Public Defender's capital habeas unit. This (these?) positions were billed as "not to exceed two years"

Re: Public Defender Applications - 2021
Anyone know what's going on with the FDNY jobs postings in Brooklyn, Central Islip, and White Plains? They've all been closed for a while but are still on the website (unlike the Manhattan posting). I've heard of some first round interviews but that's all.

Brooklyn hired and Central Islip probably did too because they started earlier. Don't know about WP.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 12:51 pmAnyone know what's going on with the FDNY jobs postings in Brooklyn, Central Islip, and White Plains?
