Is it the hiring court that makes the offer? Or someone at OARM?

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2018-2019
I received an offer from CLB this week and my Avue account reflects that. Should I understand Deana's message to mean that if I was subsequently made a finalist for another component, I will not be able to see that on Avue (because "Offer Issued" is the most advanced status)?Anonymous User wrote:From Deana:
Finalist updates HP& SLIP
Hi, all:
We've been receiving updates from components over the past 24 hours. Some are still due out, so don't panic.
As of now, here's what has been posted. Please bear in mind that all components formally participating in either Program have until close of business tomorrow to select finalists. Updates are posted after my office clears candidates for possible offers.
Please also bear in mind that the status display is controlled by the most advanced status, so if you are a finalist for two components, one issues an offer, and we update, then the code for the other component that designated you a finalist disappears. That does NOT mean you are not still a finalist for the other component. It just means that the "offer issued" status is linked to the component or components that have issued an offer.
FOR THE HONORS PROGRAM:
USAO, Central District of California
USAO, District of Arizona
USAO, Southern District of New York
USAO, District of Arizona (has met hiring goal)
Civil Division
- OIL-Appellate
- OIL-District Courts
- Federal Programs
- Appellate Section
- Consumer Protection
- Commercial Litigation
Tax Division (both Civil and Criminal)
EOIR
- OCIJ
- OD
- OP
- OGC
SUMMER LAW INTERN PROGRAM
Folks, quite honestly, these are coming in piecemeal. My advice is to check periodically to see whether there are updates. We'll do our best to get it all updated by Monday.

Did they say how long it was between their designation as finalist and their offer?Anonymous User wrote:The two I know got their offers via email, I guess it depends on the court!Anonymous User wrote:A former EOIR-OCIJ clerk told me he received his offer through a phone call.Anonymous User wrote:are offers being made via email? phone? telegram? moneygram? instagram?

That is the way I would take Deana's message. Would you mind saying what day you received your offer and whether it was by phone or email?

Same. I haven't heard anything re reference checks, but I heard that AFML in particular does them after selecting finalists.Anonymous User wrote:Dying to hear from CRM-AFML already...

You are right, that is what I heard too from several sources. So there is hope! Hopefully they will send out designations today and not tomorrow. It feels like each second is a whole month now hahaAnonymous User wrote:Same. UST checked at least one of my references. Have they checked multiples of anyone elses? Also, would love to know when others are designated as finalists for the component.

Has anyone else received an offer from CLB? Trying to determine whether I'm an alternate.

Wow. That's tough, February is a long ways away. Any idea what percentage of finalists end up getting offers?Anonymous User wrote:I know 3... for one it was 2 weeks, for another it was a month, and for the last, it was February.Anonymous User wrote:Did they say how long it was between their designation as finalist and their offer?Anonymous User wrote:The two I know got their offers via email, I guess it depends on the court!Anonymous User wrote:A former EOIR-OCIJ clerk told me he received his offer through a phone call.Anonymous User wrote:are offers being made via email? phone? telegram? moneygram? instagram?

Aye! UST only checked one of my references--that I know of. Also, the UST component disappeared on the status checker, so hopefully we find out sooner than later on finalist selections. Good luck!Anonymous User wrote:UST checked at least one of my references. Have they checked multiples of anyone elses?
