Thank you for this info! Do you know how many post-bars SD is looking for? Also, do you have any insight into what the interview for post-bar positions is like?
No problem. I'm not sure how many they are looking for this year, they usually hire 15-20. In past years, 3/4 of the clerks were current/past interns and the rest were out of state students. I have heard that they have reserved a certain number of slots specifically for out of state law students for this round.

Three rounds of interviews: first round: not certain because interns bypass, probably general screener, second round: come of up with defense and litigation strategy for a case, third round: you basically have it (tell us about yourself)
Thank you again! Sorry to keep asking Qs, but do you know how successful post bars are in obtaining attorney positions in SD? 15-20 post bars is quite a lot for SD.[/quote]

It depends on how many openings are available, but as long as they pass the CA bar, they are usually pretty successful. There are a decent amount of attorneys retiring this year so I believe there will be more openings for attorney positions than in the past years.

They've done interviews at OCI and via skype. They came to my school back in September, but I was told it would be a while before I heard back about any possible second round.

Edit: Also, the first round was typical "why our office" and "why public defense" kind of questions, plus some on-the-spot hypos. No closing args or anything, though. I was also told that they reserve spots for non-SD locals, BUT those spots could include people from other states or even just northern California.

To the two who answered my questions on SD PD's office, thank you!

Do either of you guys know if Federal Defenders in San Diego did OCI interviews for 3Ls this year?

I don't believe they did. They did not hire a fall class this past fall because of budget issues and it looks like they won't be
hiring for next fall, either. An insider suggested sending in an application in 2014 in case the budget changes.

Received a denial letter from Miami for a panel interview. It was another "can't offer a panel interview but will keep you in a pending file of preferred applicants" Does anyone know if there is any merit to the possibility of this being a wait listed letter. Did anyone get hard reject from Miami that did not say that they would place you in a pending file?

So far they are signed up for the PILC, but I think they were signed up for it last year as well.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Miami has already scheduled second round interview, both for this week and for a week in January. I suppose it may be possible that they end up not getting enough acceptances and have to interview more, but I don't think that's their plan.
Well at EJW I was guaranteed a second round interview in February at the Midwest career fair so they have to be doing some additional ones.

I got that too when I submitted my application. Then I got an e-mail about three weeks later from someone e-mailing on behalf of the recruiting director and said the following:

"During this time period, your resume, as well as all other potential candidates' resumes, will be reviewed for an interview determination. This determination will be made by early December and you will be notified by December 31, 2013.

You will receive notification only if you have been selected for an interview."

Has anyone gotten an interview with Philly yet?

Given that they sent someone a rejection and told me that those who are rejected hear nothing, I'm guessing there's some variations in their procedures, so perhaps it means nothing that you haven't gotten a second e-mail. Again, mine took about three weeks to show up, so maybe you will get one and it's coming soon.
I liked that the form had no Ms. or Miss option, so I had to make myself a married lady because there was no option for no title at all. I joked with friends that I should just upgrade myself to Dr., but that's probably considered "lying." :)

I did not intern with CO and did not intern there, but received a second round interview about a month ago (after a screening at EJW).

Florida PD interview coming up. Which is more appropriate for the interview: pant suit or skirt suit? Anyone have experience with Florida courtroom attire?

anyone who interviewed with hennepin at EJW hear anything? I got to sneak into an interview spot and the guy asked for some follow up material which I emailed but I never heard back. Just wondering if its about time for that quick "remember me!" email before the holidays kick in.

They contacted me by phone to set up an in-office callback in January.

received offer from NH for post grad job. unless one of two other offices come through, I will be taking it. (I'd take it in a heartbeat but have SO to think about). I'd like to keep details at a minimum until I actually accept but will be happy to pm etc. in a couple of weeks.
