I know I'm being hasty but if I interviewed in the middle of the period and haven't heard back yet, should I read into it or should I stop panicking?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:40 amI know antitrust has conducted at least some reference checks.

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2022-2023
I am in the same boat. I checked the community postings from last year, and it seems that reference checks only must be made before issuing an offer. A component could, possibly, designate someone as a finalist and do the reference check after (varies by component when they do it). I am going to try and avoid panicking until the week of the 18th (easier said then done).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 1:46 pmI know I'm being hasty but if I interviewed in the middle of the period and haven't heard back yet, should I read into it or should I stop panicking?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:40 amI know antitrust has conducted at least some reference checks.

Not for anti-trust but last year for another component I was designated as a finalist and then my references were checked.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:29 amI am in the same boat. Re: DOJ Honors Program 2022-2023
Does anybody know when finalist designations go out? I interviewed earlier this week, and was told offers generally are made around Thanksgiving, but I know finalist designations tend to happen sometime before offers are released. Coming from a fed clerkship, T25, and significant interest and law school experience in antitrust, interviewed with ATR-Chicago.

Last year honors hire here. If you interviewed with multiple components, one of the components will drop off your status page right before you get designated as a finalist.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:01 amDoes anybody know when finalist designations go out? So, if you interviewed with ENRD and CRIM and were designated as a finalist for ENRD, your status would update from "Interview Requested: ENRD; CRIM" to just "Interview Requested: CRIM." Once CRIM submits their finalist designation, you will get your finalist designation updated for ENRD.
Basically, their website can only display one status at a time (applied, interview requested, finalist, offer extended, offer accepted). They'll default to showing you the lowest status until all of your components have made decisions. You might be able to find out your finalist designations a bit earlier like this!

I interviewed with both ATR-CHI and ATR-FELL. Should I, assuming I'm selected, expect designations or one of the offices to disappear on the status page (which currently reads "Selected for Interview") within the next week or so?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 10:56 amLast year honors hire here. Yeah, when should my references anticipate receiving a call, if I’m a finalist?

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2022-2023
I didn't have multiple interviews from the same component (had multiple from different ones) so I'm not sure! I would imagine the same logic applies though. If you're selected for CHI but FELL hasn't selected finalists/didn't choose you, CHI should drop off your list and you'll just see "Interview Requested: ATR-FELL."Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:06 pmI interviewed with both ATR-CHI and ATR-FELL. Deana posted an update today on the avue board. Said finalists will be designated by November 18th.

How did you think the Fellowship interview went? Mine didn't really entail anything different from the non-Fellowship interviewAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 2:33 pmI only interviewed with the DC office.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 2:10 pmWhich offices, if you don't mind? Comment OP here. Same! Another commenter said some references had already been checked by this time last week. Hopefully they'll continue calling references, even though my interview was late. Mine was similar. I was asked a couple of specific questions and we moved on. I'd say my answers were 6/10.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 4:12 pmHow did you think the Fellowship interview went? I interviewed late in the interview cycle too (ATR, DC office) and my references haven’t been checked either! Going to hope they are doing them in order of interviews. I have a friend who interviewed early and one of his has been checked.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 4:14 pmComment OP here. Same! If anyone is interested in testing this theory, my interview was the 28th and my references were checked on Monday (11/07). Would be curious to see where others are? If it makes anyone at all feel slightly less alone in their anxiety, I interviewed with Crim fairly early and my references have not been checked. (For additional info, I have decently competitive stats, federal clerkships, DOJ internships.) I’m basically at the point of throwing in the towel and giving up all hope. Good luck everyone!
