Good point. I think the second round is more like a panel, but I don't know details. I don't have anything to lose if I try.spleenworship wrote:Wouldn't it be more awkward to show up and have them remember you and be like "hey, didn't we reject you already?" I say tell them what's up. It shows you aren't giving up and avoids embarrassment if they really don't want to give you a second chance.
IMO, of course.

Round 2 was a hypo, with closing and cross. And chatting. Of course, I'm not real clear on the rounds, tbh. But round 3 is the panel with a bunch of PDs if I understand correctly.Anonymous User wrote:Good point. I think the second round is more like a panel, but I don't know details. Then where do u know to take the bar? No email from Philly guess that means I'm a ding there. Really 4 pd internships and dings everywhere?Anonymous User wrote:You're gonna take the bar and apply to smaller offices that don't hire pre-bar. It's gonna be scary as hell and IT SUCKS but you gotta hang in there!Anonymous User wrote:Yeah at least you still have hope I recently just had three rejections in a row. It is really making me feel like I am not doing what I'm supposed to be doing or in doing something wrong. I've been given positive feedback in interviews but I am not getting offers so I have no idea. Maybe they're being nice. I don't really have a plan B so I am not sure what I'm going to do if nothing comes through.Anonymous User wrote:YES. I'm not even getting rejections yet and I'm feeling down. I've sent out dozens of applications, and just haven't heard back from most places. I guess I'm glad I didn't get a bunch of rejections right before christmas, but it sucks not knowing where I'll be next year. Here's to feeling shitty and restless until we finally find jobs.Anonymous User wrote:Is anyone else feeling down and out about this whole interview process? I keep hearing things like the top candidates get picked first etc... I'm starting to doubt my skills and experience ( 4 pd internships/clinic) with all of these rejections staying positive is hard. How are you guys doing it? I've been asking for advice from my cso and trusted profs or supervisors but everyone is giving me positive feedback. This break I'm going to try to reframe things but it's hard.

You decide on a state, preferably a state that is home to you in some way. And you apply to offices there. You get on their list serves if you can through the state website and you apply. You email blast. You take the bar in that state and you waive into DC. You do what you can. It'll work out

I just... I... wow, just wow. Yes, you now have to move to your office's precise location before you can have a chance to find out whether they will let you work for them.Jessuf wrote: This is my plan for California, except I received a lovely rejection e-mail on Christmas that said I had to have an address in the county before they would consider my application.

For people with Philly interviews do you have ties? Not from the area but was gunning for them, no interview request. Also I know some had heard about scheduling firs rounds with LAS recently has anyone heard about scheduling a second round recently? Interviewed in October and was supposed to hear back early December but asked the scheduler about it two weeks ago and still said processing my application. Anyone who interviewed in NH in December hear back yet?

I received a Philly interview and have no ties to the area and didn't mention anything specific to the office in my cover letter.Anonymous User wrote:For people with Philly interviews do you have ties? Some people in this thread have received NHPD offers, but I'm not sure when they interviewed. I interviewed in December and haven't heard anything.

Yes, I interviewed at the beginning of December with two staff attorneys who asked about my resume, past experience, gave a couple of hypos and asked how I would handle the situation. Have not heard back yet for a final interview.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone applied or interviewed with Legal Aid Society juvenile rights?

So I'm sure we have all had the ethics question during an interview: your client tells you he did it but still wants to testify.
Any idea what the actual answer is? I feel like they push back on you no matter what and obviously want to ensure your gut instinct is to protect your client and not throw him under the bus, but any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks!

Thanks. So from what you know, there are 2 rounds of interviews? Also what kinda of hypos did they give you? I don't know much about the child protective role.Anonymous User wrote:Yes, I interviewed at the beginning of December with two staff attorneys who asked about my resume, past experience, gave a couple of hypos and asked how I would handle the situation. I just received a Philly interview--no ties.Anonymous User wrote:For people with Philly interviews do you have ties? Not from the area but was gunning for them, no interview request. I know that the LAS hiring committee is meeting on Jan. 7 and will notify people about 2nd and 3rd rounds after that date. I interviewed in December (first round).
I interviewed in NH in December. Received an offer.
I accepted a different offer and pulled out of all of the above processes. Hope that frees up some space! Good luck everyone!

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
For those who have heard back from the Bronx Defender's who interviewed in late November, how did they inform you? Was it different if you were accepted versus rejected.
Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty sure that the answer is that you let them testify but you don't do the questioning. There's actually some technical term for it but I can't remember what it is.
