I would reach out if you need the info for planning purposes (like moving). I have also heard that a lot of people hear about their dates in July because background checks are being completed. So if you aren't in a hurry, maybe wait till August to reach out.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:06 amDamn, don't even have an estimated start date for my component. Think it's worth reaching out?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 3:11 pmI was given an estimated start date, but they won't give me an official start date until my clearance is complete.

Since DOJ HP requires bar membership in 14 months, it means it's okay if we fail the bar this time around r-right

I believe so. You have to be sworn within the bar within 14 months so as long as you pass a bar and are sworn in before 14 months from your first day is up.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 1:48 pmSince DOJ HP requires bar membership in 14 months, it means it's okay if we fail the bar this time around r-right

Do any past DOJ Honors folks know if there is any kind of special swearing in ceremony for DOJ honors folks? Someone said that the AG does it, but that doesn’t seem likely since people are all over the country.

I know for SLIPs there was a oath ceremony. Mine was via zoom so it wasn't very ceremonial, but I'm almost certain all incoming hires have to take the oath of office. My (non-DC) office had the head of my office administer it

I suspect it really depends on how many honors people are in your office/program, and where you are in the country. If you're in DC and there are a bunch of you, you might do it in person with the AG (or maybe all the DC folks will congregate); I wasn't in DC and just did it over the phone with an HR person.

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2021-2022
I received an offer from OCIJ today. I must have been 3rd or 4th choice for this location to get one so late haha. Does anyone have any insight on the position? Do they offer telework? What grade does it go up to? 12 or 13? Is it a temporary position with a strong likelihood of permanency once the commitment ends?
Thanks for anyone's help!

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2021-2022
So assuming you’re talking about the standard OCIJ positions with an immigration judge, they’re essentially term clerkships, so temporary and can’t convert to permanent. You retain eligibility to apply to the honors program again when your OCIJ gig is up, though, and OCIJ people can get hired into permanent positions elsewhere in DOJ (usually EOIR), though it’s not guaranteed.dakeel wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 4:51 pmI received an offer from OCIJ today.
