A friend of mine at the USPTO told me that the phone call should be coming from a (571) 272-xxxx number. So hopefully that will help the heart attacks each time the phone rings :)

Well here's to hoping that it takes a little while for them to get all the correspondence out to people...

I agree! If it's up to each manager, it might take a few days anyway. I would still like to know though...

If they normally work from home, they're still on the clock. If they normally work at the Office, then they get a holiday--there's still hope!

For peace of mind, can anyone confirm the percent chance based solely on interviews, 33%, 120 interviews/40 slots?

Anyone else get an email?

I also got an e-mail for the May class this morning. I called the Managing Attorney right away.

Does anyone know if the job offer is now a mere formality after the references clear? Also, is there a distinction between the March and May class candidates? Are the March candidates considered the stronger candidates?

Congrats, and from what I understand that if they are looking at your references they are likely going to give you an offer. Also, from what I was told was that the May class is for those who are starting a new division together while the March class are going to be assigned to existing managers.

Is it safe to assume that all tentative offers have been extended?

I also got an email for the May class this morning; I was told it'd be a few days of reference checks before hearing back again.

Just got a phone call asking for permission to contact references for the late February/early March class. Phone call came from a 571 area code. I wonder if the May class received emails. Congrats to those that got emails and good luck to those still waiting.

I got my phone call at 5:15. She did say that the snow is delaying things a lot though, so I would say it's possible that some people will hear tomorrow.

Should we keep the hope alive? or did every hiree get a response already? I am confused now..
So it seems it was emails in the morning for May class, and then phone calls in the afternoon for March class?

I received an email yesterday, January 26th, from a managing attorney asking for permission to contact my references. I called the managing attorney as requested in the email and was informed that I was being considered for the May class. Furthermore, I was told that HR would be contacting me next if I was ultimately selected. I'm not sure if this means that I will be extended an offer, but hopefully it's a step in that direction.

My call at 5:15 was for the March class. I really have no way of knowing if they contacted everyone yet or not. All I know is that the snow has been delaying things.

I was also told the snow was delaying things. So reference contacts, HR, notifying people, etc has all been delayed to some extent.

Re: March vs May: I think there is no difference between "quality" of candidates. March class was hired directly by individual managers, so very subjective. May class is probably the most qualified people that were not hired by individual managers that were selected by the group as a whole.

All speculation on my part.

I received a call this morning getting approval to contact my references for the February class, so if you're still waiting a call may be coming.

Keep faith, remember that they are still recovering from the crazy snow storm, and the individual managers may still be out of work.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
