Have there been any more rejections from LAS or BxD? Has anyone heard from NDS?

Does anyone know about Cook County PD? I imagine they have a big office, but I don't hear anything about them, and my school's career office has no idea/connections about the office

Did the people have clerkship experience? At OCI at my school everyone was essentially told "Unless you're top 5% or unless you clerk post-grad, we're not looking"... Which begged the question from everyone "why the hell did they come to an OCI?"Anonymous Defender wrote:Yes NJ has made a few offers already.Anonymous User wrote:NJ has already interviewed some people and made offers to at least one I know.

I'm a former NJOPD intern/currently clerking in the state. They do OCI as a way of getting their name out to prospective hires and so they can recruit interns.Anonymous User wrote:Did the people have clerkship experience? At our orientation in Trenton, we were told with a heavy wink and nod that the 2L internship is critically important if we were going to be applying for a job with them post-bar. I talked to the deputy of the county I worked in, and they basically told me that the NJOPD pretty much only hires three types of folks: (1) former NJOPD interns who go on to clerk in the state and do a good interview, (2) T14ers with top stats, and (3) lateral hires with special trial or appellate skills.
From what I understand, they've already made offers to the T14-types for this round of hiring, and they're about to start interviewing former interns/current clerks in January/February.

Thanks so much for that great (horrible (in the news sense)) answer!Anonymous User wrote: I'm a former NJOPD intern/currently clerking in the state. They do OCI as a way of getting their name out to prospective hires and so they can recruit interns.

Why in the world would you want to be a government employee in Illinois?Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know about Cook County PD? I imagine they have a big office, but I don't hear anything about them, and my school's career office has no idea/connections about the office

I know a lot of good attorneys that work there. They are a good office, but they don't interview or hire pre-bar, so they lose out on a lot of good applicants.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know about Cook County PD? Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
Can anyone who has worked at the Colorado State Public Defender give me your thoughts on it? I'd love to know more about office culture, what the caseloads look like, how long people tend to stay there, etc. I have an offer and I'm still really unsure about what to do. Any advice/information is appreciated!

I hope Miami doesn't make all their offers because I have a panel coming up in Feb.
Any tips for MD panel?

I don't think anyone's said anything about this yet but how does BxD send out rejections? Snail mail? Email? Call?

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
They're just now finishing their interviews/hiring for their Spring class, the first they've done in a long time. Word I have from someone who works there is that they're supposed to start Fall class interview requests next week.mazatec wrote:Any movement from Philly?
I got a call in late November/early December asking which class I had applied for, so they were at least sorting applications back then.

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
They have screener interviews and then final round (panel) interviews with the leadership from the counties that they are considering you for. The interview is basically why PD... relevant experience... then different practical questions like how you relate to clients, how you prepare, etc. etc. I know some offers for the spring class are out already.beysho wrote:Thanks. Is anyone applying to appellate positions? If so, have you heard anything from OAD?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
