Re: Military Law
Does anybody know what the medical process is for Army JAG? I went through MEPS (which was a delightful experience) for Marines and passed.
Is this Dodmerb physical similar to MEPS?

Re: Military Law
I don't know if it's similar to MEPS but basically you schedule an appointment with eye, ear, and a typical physician around your area. You pop in, they fill out your forms, they send 'em over to the Army. You get your results in 2 or so weeks, IIRC. Really painless.Bounders wrote:Does anybody know what the medical process is for Army JAG? I went through MEPS (which was a delightful experience) for Marines and passed.

You only go through this once you get accepted as a JAG candidate. Not prior to.

They were delayed last year as well and came out on the 24th of Jan. If it is similar this year that means next week.shepdawg wrote:Any predictions on the release date of Army 2L internship selects?

I have not seen the Reserve/NG results posted.
Are these new lists or are you including the OCT11 results in those figures?

Re: Military Law
SJA interview for GLP was today. I thought it went really well.
Word of warning to future interviewers (which no one told me!): make sure you arrive on base REALLY early. It can take a while to go through security and get a visitor pass. I arrived at the base 30 minutes early and I waited for over 30 minutes in the waiting room to get a visitor's pass and get on the base. That didn't help with the nerves.
The interviews were fantastic. I literally met with the entire office before meeting with the SJA. The Judge Advocates I met with her down to earth and knowledgeable. They seem like a really fun bunch. I spent about an hour and 15 minutes or so talking to them. The conversation ranged from questions to just fun small talk. They joked that they wanted to have someone who would fit in at the office (and that there were some stiff weirdos that come to interview). After talking with all of them, I spent about an hour and a half with the SJA. We went over my career goals, my work experiences, my application. Some questions were direct and caught me a bit off guard, but the tone of the whole thing was quite relaxed. I felt like I put my best foot forward.
Now the waiting game.
If anyone wants more specific questions asked and that sort of thing, PM me.

Well, I just submitted the last of my materials for the OYCP for the Air Force. Now, the wait is on! Supposed to know the results by the end of February. Good luck to everyone else who applied.

Re: Military Law
For anyone who ever applied for one of the branches' summer internship programs, how long did it take you to hear back (even if you were denied)?
Specifically interested if this was for the AF.

Re: Military Law
The deadline to submit our applications for the AF internship last year was November 12th (possibly the 13th). I got a call with the offer in the first or second week of January.billaboy12 wrote:For anyone who ever applied for one of the branches' summer internship programs, how long did it take you to hear back (even if you were denied)?

Just got the call from Army JAG! Picked up for the summer 2L internship program. I was told that the list should be released tomorrow.

Re: Military Law
I'm shocked. I wonder what I did wrong. I made it on 1L alternate list, but didn't make it on either list for 2L. Think I should call the interviewer to find out?

Re: Military Law
The AF JAG summer internship final deadline is not until Feb. 10. If you did not apply before the preference date (which I do not remember), you will not find out until after the close of the application. The information is on USAJobshowell wrote:The deadline to submit our applications for the AF internship last year was November 12th (possibly the 13th). I'm on the alternate list for army jag 2L interns, does anyone have any idea how long before alternates hear yay or nay?

Re: Military Law
Apologies if this question was already asked earlier in the thread; I haven't gotten around to reading the whole thing yet, but I intend to.
I'm a National Guard officer who commissioned out of ROTC with a GRFD scholarship. Branched MP with the intent of going to law school while keeping up with my Guard responsibilities in the state where I end up. Anyone know if upon graduation it would be possible for me to A) Re-branch in the Guard to JAG without altering my GRFD contract, B) Get a conditional release and switch to the Reserve or Active Duty JAG, or C) Get a conditional release and change uniforms, i.e. AF or Navy?

I don't know if that is accurate. I was selected last year for the Army 1L internship and I did not accept.

that's a bummer. How do you know? I read on a different forum (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=146552) that someone had, but I am aware that people lie from time to time on these things.shepdawg wrote:Last year, no alternates got the job.gilgamesh23 wrote:I'm on the alternate list for army jag 2L interns, does anyone have any idea how long before alternates hear yay or nay?

There was at least one alternate who was selected last year for the 1L internship.

Last week I was selected to be a Marine Corps Judge Advocate. I'll be heading to Quantico this summer for 10 weeks. I'm a 1L at a T2.
I'll answer any questions anyone might have about the Marine Corps application process.

Re: Military Law
For A I would need more information on if it was a scholorship or non scholorship benefit and amount of time you already served. This also comes into play for B and C because of possible recoupment, but yes, it could be done. However, I don't kow that I see the benefit in going Reserve JAG vs. Guard JAG if you are already in the Guard.2LT_CPG wrote:Apologies if this question was already asked earlier in the thread; I haven't gotten around to reading the whole thing yet, but I intend to.
