Re: DOJ Honors Program 2024-25
I interviewed with six components but have narrowed it down that I only would take offers from 4 of the 6….should I reach out and withdraw from the other two or is it too late at this point? I’m worried that if they try to only give one offer per candidate I may get one that I don’t want and then lose my chance at DOJ HONORS all together

Has anyone had their status change/references checked for ATR-WASH yet?

Components don't communicate laterally about which candidates they're offering-- you can get offers from various component. You can always withdraw by contacting components directly.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 2:10 pmI interviewed with six components but have narrowed it down that I only would take offers from 4 of the 6….should I reach out and withdraw from the other two or is it too late at this point? Could the election affect honors program hiring or the honors program stability for those who are hired?

Yes (not fully sure all references were checked, but at least one was immediately following my interview). No status change here.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:36 pmAnyone else for ATR-WASH have their references checked but not be named a finalist?
EDIT: ...and now my portal no longer has ATR in its "Selected By" column. My status is still "Selected for Interview", but only the other component that interviewed me is included in the far-right column. Has anyone else had ATR drop off from their status?

Based on previous threads here, I think this is a good sign! It sounds like sometimes this happens before you're designated a finalist, and the component left on your portal is one you'll be designated a finalist for. (You could be designated for other components still later too.)Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 2:11 pmYes (not fully sure all references were checked, but at least one was immediately following my interview). Yep, you're right, except it was for the component that dropped off, not the one that remained -- just changed to finalist for ATR-WASH within the last hour or so!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 4:19 pmBased on previous threads here, I think this is a good sign! Ah okay, I said that the search was fine given the information possessed by the officer-- it seemed like a really simple question and I answered hesitatingly because I thought I was missing something. The rest of the interview went good but was by no means exceptional. I did ask a lot of questions about why their caseload had dropped in recent years.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 1:29 pmThey asked me one that essentially was about exigent circumstances warrant exceptions.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 12:37 amThank you! Guessing more than usual number of students/clerks will decline offers now that they’ll be working for Matt Gaetz?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 1:10 pmCould the election affect honors program hiring or the honors program stability for those who are hired?

Would definitely appreciate anyone else included in the Wednesday afternoon ATR finalist designations to post if they get an offer. I am wondering if the late batch of finalists are mostly alternates...

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2024-25
I suspect that this won't be true except for the few extremely politically fragile departments (see, e.g., civil rights). I cant imagine people super interested in Antitrust for example are going to turn down a HP offer. If anything, if they are all fired in 2 years, their resume will still signal to firms/private practice that they were qualified enough for the HP which still gives them a strong credential.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 5:23 pmGuessing more than usual number of students/clerks will decline offers now that they’ll be working for Matt Gaetz?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 1:10 pmCould the election affect honors program hiring or the honors program stability for those who are hired?
