Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
Anyone know if in the "listening session" for LAS CDP they're going to take names? Or if it's required to call in to still be in the running?

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
It sounds like the call is optional for those who want a status update, I would think if it were required they would have noted as such in the e-mail. Another wonderful weekend of speculation and building up hope...

Anyone have any news from BDS? I interviewed with them back in December and it's been radio silence since then.

I wasn't able to get on the call yesterday evening - anything informative? Or just that we should keep being patient?

The delay was because, with the NYPD work stoppage/slowdown, there was uncertainty whether the arrest levels would go back up to where they were before. As a result negotiations were delayed, but they're finishing up now. Tina said she thinks 30 people is the max. (Unclear if that's including the people already given offers...?)

Hi, new to the forum. Glad to know others are anxiously awaiting still as well! Regarding NYLAS- Did they mention how many people are still in the running? And did they say everyone should expect to hear by the end of the week regardless?

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
They didn't, but judging from the 70-some on the March email, minus a handful who got other jobs, and another few who didn't register for the NY bar... Who knows. Tina did say everyone would hear, whether accepted or waitlisted or rejected.bruno.64 wrote:Hi, new to the forum. Glad to know others are anxiously awaiting still as well! Regarding the LAS call, I just want to note that I'm pretty sure she said this week or next week, so don't freak out if you don't hear anything by Friday.

re: BDS, I got an offer in mid-May, just a few days after my third interview. I got the sense that they made all their offers around then.

Has anyone called JRP and asked for any updates?

Thanks for the reply! The waiting is brutal. I was originally told that decisions would be made by the end of May.

Not the anon, but for whatever it's worth, I had my 3rd round interview with BDS in mid-May as well and was told they would be letting people know about two weeks out from that date, so it's possible not all offers/rejections have gone out yet.Anonymous User wrote:Do the anon who got a BDS offer - could you PM me?

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
Hey guys,
Not sure if this is the right place for this - I'd be happy to move it if it isn't - but I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on (rising) 3L PD applications. What's the time line? Do PDs hire "classes" the way that firms do? Long story short, I'm top 5% at a TT looking to go cross-coast (yeah, I know, poor planning at the start of law school, but I took the free ride). Anybody have any luck doing this? My resume is exclusively PD experience including Philly and (hopefully) PDS next year.
Has anyone had success breaking into the PD market from out of state/no connections? What ECs are they looking for?
This is what I'm truly passionate about but I don't want to stay where it snows for the rest of my life...
Thanks for your help!

Any word from LAS today - offer wait list rejection? I guess we shouldn't be surprised if it ends up going into next week...
