Re: Honors Attorney Program 2020-2021 (non-DOJ)
Anybody heard from the IRS? I interviewed about a month ago. They said it would be a while since people need to pass background checks and such, but just curious if anybody has had recent movement.
Also, going to get ahead of myself for a second here and ask how negotiable starting salary is. The IRS honors program allows you to come in at GS-13, 14, or 15 depending on if you're a JD, LLM, or clerk. I'm wondering if there's any way someone could get themselves bumped up one if they have another compelling offer on the table. I would imagine that even if they wanted to, there's probably restrictions that prevent them from doing so.

Speaking from experience, but may be different. generally a compelling offer from somewhere else won't get you bumped up. Based strictly on experience and what not. The GS level itself is not negotiable generally because of what I said, but the level is. For example you can negotiate from a GS 13 level 1 to a level 3. Those are easy to get scaled up by negotiating as they're more flexible.

by GS 13 level 1. I meant step, my brain just could not think of the word at the time. The step is negotiable the GS level is usually not.

Yep, that's what I figured. Thought it was worth posturing about, though.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:48 amSpeaking from experience, but may be different. generally a compelling offer from somewhere else won't get you bumped up. Just got an email from DOL HQ that they're still reviewing applicants and that I'm "under active consideration." What a weird timeline...anyone else hear anything?

Yup, got an identical email. From what I've heard it's not uncommon for DOL's hiring timeline to be a bit stretched. A former alum at my school applied late summer/early fall for a regional position and didn't get her job offer until January!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 1:43 pmJust got an email from DOL HQ that they're still reviewing applicants and that I'm "under active consideration." Good luck in what I'm guessing are oncoming second round interviews.

Have other people withering in the wind, waiting to hear from DOL, sent an email checking in on the status? Seems like news is trickling out slow, but I'm impatient

Have you heard back re NSA offer? They had told me during my interview on Friday that I'd hear something this week
mbriglia wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 10:14 pmI heard back about a second interview with NSA as well. Did you get the email with the six timeslots listed? Does this mean there are six people with second interviews..? And do you have any idea how many are being hired?

Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 12:28 pmSorry y'all. Thanks for the heads up though. Has anyone here gotten a second round interview? I haven't heard yet either way. My interview was mid-Oct.

Heard back from NSA re not being selected for a second interview. Not sure if they are going in order, but my screener was in early September.

Have also received an invitation to interview for a division job. Seems like USACE is moving much faster than in past years.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 2:21 pmI received an invitation to interview with an USACE field office. I already interviewed with headquarters.

Apparently NLRB board-side tapped my references the other day. Looks like they might be making a decision soon.

I emailed DOL for a status update because I had another offer. Within an hour, my interviewers responded that I’m no longer being considered for DOL. Hope that helps.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 3:47 pmHave other people withering in the wind, waiting to hear from DOL, sent an email checking in on the status? Re: Honors Attorney Program 2020-2021 (non-DOJ)
I emailed my DOL interviewers because I just wanted to know if I was still being considered or not. I was told I was, and that they submitted me for further review. So I don't think not getting an email is an automatic no.
