Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
Looks like the patent side has returned to in-person training for their examiners:
https://www.usajobs.gov/job/747377800
Start date that that position: January 29, 2024
Relevant section: "This is an In-Person position located in Alexandria, VA. Selectees will be required to report to the physical worksite at USPTO Headquarters campus. Selectees can continue working on-site or elect to telework upon completion of the initial mandatory training (4 months) within the Patents Training Academy."
I was curious if any of the PTO lurkers here have heard anything similar happening for the trademark side?

Quick question for everyone, did your resume have references listed? Or at what point did they ask you for references?

They'll only ask for references if you're going to get a job offer. It will come later in the process

Has anyone been contacted for an interview? I answered the supplemental questions and haven't heard anything back. This is my first federal job application.

Nothing yet for me either... this is my second time applying and I made it to the interview round last cycle but was not selected after my interview. It was about 5-6wks after the written statement.
Also, what sucks is they do not inform you if you have not been selected for an interview until the end of everything. So, if others have gotten an email for an interview and you haven't that will be the indication that you were not selected. So please, post when you have an interview so that others can know.
I wish there was a way we can tell who is posting.
I understand we all post anonymously which is fine lol but it gets confusing cause idk how many different ppl are using this forum. Anyway, when I post I will always sign with this (YB!). It has no particular meaning to my life but just so ppl can know its the same person posting.

The USAJobs posting for this cycle of TM examiners clearly stated that the examiners could choose to be remote.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 12:56 pmLooks like the patent side has returned to in-person training for their examiners:

Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
I've been wondering how many examiners the USPTO intends to hire/year to cope with increased application volume. The USPTO-FY2024-Congressional-Budget Submission indicates the USPTO plans to hire 100 examiners annually for FY 2024 through FY 2028. (p.49) See https://shorturl.at/antLU. Does anyone have an estimate for how many people apply per hiring cycle?

Based on the timeline from last cycle, I'd expect interview invites to go out around Mid-October

If you don't mind, can you share how you found that out? Just so I can do it, too.

Any idea how the potential shutdown will affect hiring?

Should we expect a looming gov shutdown to affect the interviewing and hiring timelines?

I don’t think it should. The USPTO is entirely self sufficient, and in the past, hasn’t been affected by shutdowns.

Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
Why did they hire you? Did you ever receive feedback from your manager about your performance in the interview? This process is opaque, and every examiner I've spoken to has no idea why he/she was hired. Some thought they weren't going to get the position based on how they felt after the interview. Someone years ago on this thread said "their hiring decisions make absolutely no sense," and that is borne out every cycle.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 4:11 pmI am a current examiner.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 4:26 pmHow do you know that's how many people applied this cycle?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 8:44 pmApproximately 700 people applied this cycle.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 10:09 amI've been wondering how many examiners the USPTO intends to hire/year to cope with increased application volume. If we didn't get an interview request yet, does that mean we have been passed over?
