I'm an HLS rising 2L with a 6H/4P 1L grade split. "Softs" wise, I am a Black non-KJD currently doing my 1L summer at a V5. We get five bid slots for our pre-EIP process, and I'm currently thinking of using one of them on Williams & Connolly or Munger. Is this a waste of a bid?
Also, does anybody know where this grade split might fall ranking wise?

Regarding placement in the class, cum laude (top 40%) is typically around a 3.6 after 3 years, and 6H/4P is about a 3.6. So I'd guess you're a notch above median.
W&C and Munger are probably a reach with those grades but I also don't think there's any harm in using one of your five pre-OCI bids on them. My understanding is that W&C is somewhat less competitive than Munger, though others may know more than I do and correct me on that. I'd also throw at least one bid to a "safe" NYC firm, just to ensure you come out of pre-OCI with at least one offer in hand.

I'm pretty sure median from 1L is 3 Hs, then people do better 2L and 3L when there's less of a strict curve.
So OP, I think you're solidly above median, no clue where though.

As a Black student, you are in a solid position for both of those firms. I would not think of either of them as a waste of a bid. I've seen far worse grades get both.
