And the worst part is, I thought I was on a roll.

Checking in.
My cold diagnostic was a 160. Since then, I've had a 159, 166, and 165 in that order. I'm averaging -2 on RC, -5 or both LRs, and b/t -10 and -5 on LG. I've yet to finish an LG section in time without guessing the last few questions.
Taking in September. God help us all.

I just broke 170 for the first time on a PT! I woke up at 5:00 accidentally and decided "fuck it, let's see if I can take an LSAT under these conditions." Chugged a coffee and had a half a muffin. It was only 4 sections (no experimental), so I did all 4 in a row with no breaks.
It's the 5th time I've taken a PT -- and I still plan on taking 30+ more, hopefully making this sort of scoring consistent. Just thought I'd share -- if I can do it, y'all can too!
PT 19 (easy curve, I know...but still a good raw score):
LG: -1
RC: -5 (ran out of damn time)
LR1: -2
LR2: -0
RAW: 93 SCALED: 173

Wow, our stories are very similar. I did the same thing, woke up this morning & said lets give the LSAT a shot. I, too, had a cup of coffee and a half of a muffin. I took practice test 44 & I, too, scored a 173 (my 8th practice test).Tangerine Gleam wrote:I just broke 170 for the first time on a PT! Unfortunately I didn't do as well as you guys this morning. I've been in the low-mid 160s for my last 5PT's and today I did horribly today.
June 2007
LG: -9
LR1:-6
LR2:-8
RC:-6
Exp- didn't score yet
Raw: 71
Scaled: 156- GARBAGE
I usually get a total of -8/-9 on lr-as low as -2
The games were actually easy I just made a lot of dumb mistakes
During the LR I kept feeling like I wasn't very focused and was rushing a bit- unusual for me
I'm just chalking it up to a bad day-FK it
Cheers to you guys in the 170s today though, that kicks ass

Horrible test this morning.
PT48
LR: -5 (wtf?)
LG: -7 (guessed on the last 9)
LR: -5( WTF?!?!)
RC: -4 (if I remember correctly)
raw 77, scaled 159. TRASH.
I spent a lot more time reading the arguments and it seems like thoughts weren't flowing correctly through my mind. I'm hoping this is because I went out to drink last night and was still a little hungover this morning.

My story gets better.
I was so stoked at my 173 that I took ANOTHER test (my second today) to see if it was a fluke or not. To make things more exciting, I actually took it on a plane flight -- with a decent amount of turbulence and plenty of distractions.
Raw: 95 Scaled: 177
I really, really, really hope that I can start to do this consistently. This was all on 5 hours of sleep, and both tests in the AM. I can't believe I got my best score hours after frying my brain on the previous LSAT.
Cunni -- we hall have bad days. Don' get too down on yourself. Was there anything you did today that would have changed your focus? Did you sleep well last night? Get wasted? Have a good breakfast, etc? I'm going to start marking my "external factors" when I record my PT progress to make sure that there isn't anything I'm doing which is screwing me up and giving me bad days with poor focus.
Misslawyer -- High fives!

I definitely thought my score was going to be a lot worse after I tallied everything up. I just felt completely out of sync on his test. Nothing was clicking. I think I'm taking another one on Monday just to prove to myself that I have made progress since my last practice test (163 PT46)lsb wrote:That's one tight curve. -21 for a 159Stanford4Me wrote:Horrible test this morning.

Yep, in September. I just counted my PT's, and if I buy a few more from LSAC I will have 35 I haven't touched (I've done about 10 or 15, only a few were actually timed though). 35 tests in 55-ish days means about 2 tests every 3 days!lsb wrote:Are you taking in September? Wow 2 tests every 3 days? That's a crazy schedule! Kudos to you if you can pull it off without burning out dude! What I do is I take 2 full PTs every week. (about 1 every 3 days). On the off days, I do 1 timed section and then spend the rest of the day reviewing past tests or untimed technique. So it sort of amounts to 3 tests a week. Hopefully by September, that'll total to about 30 tests.

I went through a phase with symptoms much like yours when I was studying for the June test. My mind felt "cloudy" when I was taking the test. I wasn't fatigued nor was I anxious, but the material within the test just wouldn't seep in. After awhile the cloudiness subsided and I was able to attack the test much better. Just stick to the methods my friend and you'll get out of the drought

166, 166, 169, 168 have been my last four practices. I've really done about the same on all of them just with variations in the curve. The only time I've broken 170 was on PT 50, but that felt somewhat empty since I went -1 LR combined and -2 RC--the stars were aligned. I need a consistent formula to get into the 170s...

Took PT30 today
LG: -4
LR: -5
RC: -5
LR: -3
raw: 84

Huge improvement on my part! After a terrible defeat of a 159, I immediately picked up another prep test and decided to go through it untimed and alas scored a 170. I took yesterday off to review the differences in my 159 timed and 170 untimed and analyzed why I got what questions wrong... needless to say it paid off!

Raw: 95 Scaled: 172 (brutal curve! -10 = 168)

LG: -1 (careless error bullshit!)
LR: -2
Total: -6
Damn, I have gotten 170+ three times in a row. Does this mean I've lost my club membership?
