Can I increase my score from 141 to 165 in 4 months? Forum

Hi,

I am planning on giving the October LSAT this year, and my cold diagnostic was a 141. I plan on spending at least 8 hrs/day in summer towards LSAT. Is it even possible? Or should I wait for a year and then apply?

A 141 is a below average starting score, and going from 141 to 165 is a big jump but anything is possible.
I don't have any more information about what you got for each section but from my understanding, a 141 is roughly somewhere between 39-41 marks as a raw score, and with each LSAT usually containing between 98-101 marks, you've got about every 2 in 5 answers correct.
What is further suggested is that even if you got full marks on LG, LR or RC, you're generally still very weak on most of the test.

This isn't ideal, but what I recommend if you haven't already is to look up some self-study resources on TLS and make sure to get your hands on some PTs if you're genuinely serious about taking in October.
Go through your study resources, take timed PTs and evaluate them after to find where you're still falling short.

If, by the time it gets to October, you can't score in the 160s consistently, then it is worth pushing back your test date to get in that extra practice.

Hey OP, this is definitely doable if you are willing to put in the work (which, judging from your goal of studying 8 hours per day, you are). I think how easy it will be to achieve your goal depends on where you are losing most of your points. In general, people improve the most on logic games during the course of their studying, and improve the least on reading comprehension. So, if you are dropping a lot of points during the LG section, that is good. You can spend a bunch of your time drilling games and see a significant bump in your score. If you are dropping most of your points during reading comprehension, it will be a little trickier (though by no means impossible) to bump your score quickly. In any event: plenty of people have made the jump from the 140s to the 160s. You can as well. Good luck!

I went from 143 to 168 in about five months but from what I read I might have been a bit of an outlier. So yeah sure it's possible but like others said if you can't get close by late summer you should push your test date back.

Also don't put an arbitrary ceiling on your performance! Nothing magic about 165, keep going til you plateau

Self study. LSAT Bible and tons of practice tests. Also used 7sage tracking and LG videos
