LSAC just announced that April test is cancelled (not surprising), but they are having an online, remotely proctored test in the second half of May (“LSAT-Flex”). This test will have 3 sections instead of 5. They wrote, “Scores for the LSAT-Flex will have an annotation that the test was administered in the online, remotely proctored format.” What effect, if any, do you think this test will have when it is looked at in the application pool, particularly since it's 3 sections?

My gut instinct, based on zero inside info: So long as the LSAT-Flex reports a standard LSAT score on the 180 scale, schools will treat it just like any other LSAT score. That's how they'd need to report it to USNWR for rankings purposes, so that's how they'd treat it.

If the LSAT-Flex yields a different kind of score, not on the usual 180 scale, then I think it gets devalued and schools focus more on GPA. Which would hurt splitters with low(er) LSAC GPAs.

Scores will be on the usual 120-180 scale, per LSAC's email to those who were registered for the April test.

Overall, I'm glad they're doing this, though I'm a little disappointed they removed one of the LR sections (my strong suit)
