What should I do if LG is the only section killing me?

Post by lsataddict242 » Thu Aug 24, 2017 2:35 pm

I am so irritated because I have been prepping non-stop for LG this past week and I am getting nowhere. I am still missing 1-2 on each section consistently but 5-7 on Logic Games which kills my score. I don't even finish some of them. I usually start out strong on the first game (finishing it in 4-5 minutes) and then everything goes into a downward spiral with the second game. I get stuck on a game or I don't get the necessary inferences to save time and then I get stressed out and become even slower or get stuck on a problem.

I started doing LG 5 months ago, but stopped practicing them as much during the last 2=3 months. I have done every single LG from 1-38, some of them 3-5 times. I am slower on the advanced linear and grouping games so I was thinking I can just redo the games from 1-40 until I can do them under 4 minutes. For these old games that I have been repeating, I don't miss any questions but I am afraid it's because my mind has subconsciously memorized answers where I intuitively choose the right answer even though I don't consciously remember the answer choices.

Are there any other suggestions? Did LG become harder after 1-38 or am I not doing something right?

It was actually my weakest section. -0 to 2 on everything else. Have you tried repeating LG sections after doing poorly in them, over and over again until you get a -0 with time to spare? Doing so ingrains core principals.

Get a prep course or a power score book and study longer. LG is the most learnable section; you got this

I'm struggling with it as well. What I've found helpful is doing the games, watching how the guy in the 7Sage videos does it/diagrams it, then repeating the game to perfection. Repetition is so helpful. You will definitely see patterns. 7Sage is necessary.

I've only done that for 1-38 because I saved the rest of the PTs for timed tests. Now I am taking timed tests and it seems like LG is the only section where I am still missing a lot. I don't understand why 140 games and 3 repetitions of each aren't enough. I am getting all the old games right but with no time to spare so I guess I should do those over and over until I get them between 5-6 mins each. I don't know what else to do.

How many times do you repeat? I feel like when I do that I remember the game and how to set it up whereas the new games on tests are much harder to set up. I dunno. Did you have that problem as well?

I was awful at them then used the online blueprint lsat course. I needed a course to walk me through them. I ended up crushing LG.

Do not just do game after game thinking you'll do better on each one. You need to list the types of questions you are getting wrong and what the gap in logic is for why you are getting these types wrong. Commonly in LG they are if, or local, questions you are answering incorrectly, this comes down to a matter of conceptualizing, for example.

I repeat as many times as I need to in order to:

1. Completely the game with a perfect score under the appropriate time.

2. Can diagram the game, understand and apply the rules completely and fully.

3. And most important to me right now, until I understand the game. Until I recognize the patterns of the game and see how it's similar to past games or could potentially be similar to future games.

I did 7sage vids and also looked at games by type to see the ones that gave me especially large amounts of trouble.

Yeah, I would do that. After all, we miss problems on the games because of speed. I'm certain we could both figure out the games untimed. So, get those times down to 5-6 minutes, thereby training yourself to make inferences more quickly and diagrams more efficiently. Most of the challenges of logic games are practically finite and recurring.

Go here and focus on the most challenging games (of all types): https://7sage.com/question-bank/?sectio ... t_type=all

I focus on grouping games. I f*@#(&% hate grouping games 8)

Amen. Grouping games are the bane of my existence. Well, I actually enjoy in and out games, but the rest are annoying.

Ugh, was set for a 178 today until I just completely bombed another logic game. (If you have taken PT 33, do you remember game 3?) I get so sick of this. I'm going to try out the 7Sage "Fool-Proof" method, which claims to result in a consistent -0 when done correctly. Here we go. (https://7sage.com/how-to-get-a-perfect- ... gic-games/)

Yes, I do. I hate that game. It's one of the ones I did poorly on. I was trying to do the 7sage method this past week, but it is so repetitive and boring. At some point I just get burned out from doing games over and over. But I guess it is the only thing to do at this point.

It is strange. By repetition you are just increasing your chances of making an inference should a very similar opportunity arise. Like you, what else am I going to do?

If I bomb an LG in September and get a 173 I am going to implode.
