Who here is likely taking a gap year? I am and I feel like most people frown upon it somewhat. Thoughts?

Might be what I end up doing. I'd like to hike the AT, I've tried and failed to get several people to do at least half of it with me, had 2 friends back out :/LesPaul1995 wrote:Who here is likely taking a gap year? I am and I feel like most people frown upon it somewhat. Thoughts?

Re: June 2017 Waiters Thread- Dowsing for 180s
Define gap year. As in get accepted and defer, just not apply for another cycle, or are you literally talking graduating from college and waiting a year to apply? Remember the age spread of this group is kinda wide, 20-40, so you need to be more specific.LesPaul1995 wrote:Who here is likely taking a gap year? Basically no one on this board will tell you *not* to take a gap year.LesPaul1995 wrote:Who here is likely taking a gap year? I am and I feel like most people frown upon it somewhat. Thoughts?
I'm currently starting my second 'gap' year. It just so happens mine includes a full time job

If I could do it all again, I'd definitely teach ESL for at least a year to get a feel for more of the worldMint-Berry_Crunch wrote:ive taken severalLesPaul1995 wrote:Who here is likely taking a gap year? I am and I feel like most people frown upon it somewhat. Thoughts?

Be careful with PC! I have friends who did it and described it as the loneliest time of their lives. I guess you're a dude, so you don't have to worry about assault as much either... but it's not all sunshine'n'rainbows.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:im holding out for peace corpsFuture Ex-Engineer wrote:If I could do it all again, I'd definitely teach ESL for at least a year to get a feel for more of the worldMint-Berry_Crunch wrote:ive taken severalLesPaul1995 wrote:Who here is likely taking a gap year? My #1 school with going PT in DC is Gtown. They're technically not T14 anymore and I'm not sure of my chances with them. At least not with what I was trying to score this test...heyduchess wrote:Why do you say that?vtdelt wrote:Awesome Duchess! Re: June 2017 Waiters Thread- Dowsing for 180s
None of my friends did it for travel or for fun. They did it for the work and expressed frustration that they never felt like anything they were doing REALLY made a difference. Paired with the isolation... There's a reason you can't be in the PC if you have even a history of going to therapy for depression.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:yeah im not trying to use it to travel for fun. its work.heyduchess wrote:
