Who here is likely taking a gap year? I am and I feel like most people frown upon it somewhat. Thoughts?

Might be what I end up doing. I'd like to hike the AT, I've tried and failed to get several people to do at least half of it with me, had 2 friends back out :/

Define gap year. As in get accepted and defer, just not apply for another cycle, or are you literally talking graduating from college and waiting a year to apply? Remember the age spread of this group is kinda wide, 20-40, so you need to be more specific.

Basically no one on this board will tell you *not* to take a gap year.
I'm currently starting my second 'gap' year. It just so happens mine includes a full time job

If I could do it all again, I'd definitely teach ESL for at least a year to get a feel for more of the world

Employment Law and Human/Civil Rights Law. Goes with my whole HR and Compliance career.

ACTUALLY, SAME. My career isn't HR, but I don't have a life because I over-commit to volunteer organizations like it ain't no thang.
Awesome Duchess! Now I'm kinda sad, there's no chance we'll be in the same school...

Be careful with PC! I have friends who did it and described it as the loneliest time of their lives. I guess you're a dude, so you don't have to worry about assault as much either... but it's not all sunshine'n'rainbows.

My #1 school with going PT in DC is Gtown. They're technically not T14 anymore and I'm not sure of my chances with them. At least not with what I was trying to score this test...

None of my friends did it for travel or for fun. They did it for the work and expressed frustration that they never felt like anything they were doing REALLY made a difference. Paired with the isolation... There's a reason you can't be in the PC if you have even a history of going to therapy for depression.
