Did well on logic games, bad on others - help!
Just took my first ever diagnostic, the June 2009 Preptest (so the June 2007 actual test).
Score breakdown:
Section 1 (Logic Games): 21/23
Section 2 (Logical Reasoning): 17/25
Section 3 (Logical Reasoning): 18/25
Section 4 (Reading Comprehension): 19/27
Total:
75/100
~158
Any advice on how to do better on the LR and RC sections? i.e. resources, study plans, etc.? I am willing to crack down and practice as much as I can, but I'd like a more concrete strategy than simply brute forcing practice tests.
My goal score is 170+, and I hope to take the September test. (People who scored 170+, is there any hope for me? What was your blind diagnostic score, and is a 10-15 point improvement realistic?)
I have the LSAT Powerscore Bibles, but any other recommendations would be great. Which ones do you guys trust?

e - didn't see this was a diagnostic. Yeah, try powerscore or 7Sage or The LSAT Trainer

That's a really strong diagnostic! For some perspective, my diagnostic was a 153 on the same test and after 5 months I'm scoring in the low 170s. I second getting The LSAT Trainer and a 7Sage course, and not doing anymore timed PTs until you get the rest of the fundamentals down.

Uhhh...congrats on what?zkyggi wrote:Read the sticky post. Congratulations.
Going through the sticky posts...looks like I have a long road ahead of me; the non-LG sections seem to be the ones that most people are okay with, and those that aren't have the hardest time improving...in comparison to LG, which is generally hard but also easy to improve on.
;_;
But thanks for the help guys, I'll work on it.

75 questions correct only got you a 158?? Thats rough!! I just looked at 5 different PTs and 75 correct would have resulted in a score between 161-163 on them. Congrats on the strong diag tho!

The 158 was based on the scaling chart they provided at the end of June 2007 (that's the free one they have available on lsac.org).
Different exams probably have different scales from year to year. Were those preptests you looked at the more recent ones (2010 onwards)?

You seem to be missing the fact that since you are already way ahead of the curve on LG you probably don't need 5-6 weeks of studying to get LG at -0. This of course gives you "extra" time to study on LR and RC (both of which can be greatly improved). 170+ is definitely possiblegeneric noob wrote:Uhhh...congrats on what?zkyggi wrote:Read the sticky post. Yeah the scale varies from test to test. iirc the June 2007 curve was slightly harsher than average but there have definitely been a couple that were even worse since, I think about one each in the 50s 60s and 70s.generic noob wrote:The 158 was based on the scaling chart they provided at the end of June 2007 (that's the free one they have available on lsac.org).
