Feb LSAT has a bad reputation?
So I read all the Manhattan/Powerscore books several times over this summer and began PTing in September. When I got to the 40s and 50s I felt pretty confident and registered for the Dec LSAT as I was scoring in the mid-high 170s. Unfortunately when I got to the late 60s and early 70s my score dropped by quite a few pts. I'm now getting -5 on RC, -2 on each LR section and even getting 1 or 2 LG questions wrong (scoring low 170s now)
It's a shame that I only realized that RC sections got more difficult and LG have a lot more curve balls only about one or two weeks ago.
As a result I'm quite worried and am thinking of redoing the test again in Feb in case I don't do well on the Dec test. In this case I will just work for an additional year and go to school a year later.
With the Feb LSAT undisclosed it seems to have the reputation of being a harder test, I googled around and opinion seems to be divided on it. Has anyone taken the Feb LSAT, and is it really that different from the other sessions?
Thanks!

You could be experiencing some burn out with the more recent exams. The concepts are the same even though RC is noticeably harder. Have you been taking adequate breaks?Economyclass wrote:So I read all the Manhattan/Powerscore books several times over this summer and began PTing in September. Also, I don't believe Feb LSAT is any harder than the others. I haven't taken it, but I've read posts here where the only difference is that its undisclosed. Even if it was harder, the testmakers compensate for it with a curve so it'll be on the same scale as prior examinations.

I don't find the new RC to be harder. FWIW.
Still getting the same scores -2 to -5.
No reason to believe Feb is any harder. LSAT takers love speculation.

Re: Feb LSAT has a bad reputation?
I took the feb test this year, and i was WILDLY unprepared and barely had the basics down but at the time, and looking back after months of studying, i found the test to be actually somewhat easy- no misc games, the first 3 rc passages were very easy (and thats usually-still-my hardest section- i only hope theyll be just as easy on the Dec test). So I too had that fear, but if I could have that exact test this december id be extremely happy, so in my
opinion it's definitely not harder. It does still suck that i have no idea what i got wrong- but its more of a curiosity issue than a need to know one. But dont be afraid!

Do bear in mind that even if the test is relatively more difficult, the curve will dial the difference out.

I only took it once, in Feb, but I did notably better than my best practice test.

The Feb test will be no easier or harder than any other, and if it is, the scores are equivalised/curved to remove any impact that has.
The only thing that's different about it is - like any international LSAT administration - the questions and correct answers are never released, so you can't see what you did wrong later.

The test itself is fair and normal, the valid complaints about Feb are its being too late in the cycle for those applying same year, and the fact that its unreleased.

It's the same thing as any other administration except you just don't get the test when scores go out.
