That's an amazing score for a first try! Wish I were in your shoes...

What school(s) are you looking to get into?
Because if you're iffy with a 171, that probably means you should retake for the few extra points;
after all, 175 does look a lot better and will more than compensate for a mediocre GPA.

I asked a T1 admissions person that question, point blank, recently. The person said, without hesitation, "no." As long as the school takes the top score, and not the average (which, most, if not all, take the top score now-a-days since it is what they have to report to the ABA), a lower 2nd score will not hurt you. It will no help you, but is also will not really hurt you.
