I'm retaking in June, and have been working through LG and LR bibles, along with schaums logic strategies.
So far I have seen significant improvement in LR and LG.
My problem is RC. I've been scoring an average of -7 with -11 being my worst score. I've picked up a speed reading book which has not helped much since I find it incredibly difficult to silence my inner voice and comprehend what I'm reading.
My average time spent on reading the passages is between 4 and 5 minutes. I do regress quite frequently, but feel pretty confident by the end of the passage that I have a firm grasp of the material. I don't feel like I am rushing the questions, but I do feel like an additional 10-20 seconds on each would be enough for me to raise my score to get me closer to my goal. When I review, its usually immediately obvious that I made a foolish mistake, and the right answer jumps out at me.
Can anyone comment on their struggle with RC and how they overcame it? or suggest additional ways of practicing RC? I am even open to meeting with tutors if it would help me.
Here are my stats if that helps understand where I stand:
December LSAT: 156
LR1 -6
LR2 -13
RC -6
LG -9
Average after 6 PT's: 163.3
LR -5.7 (-3 best, -10 worst)
LG -2.7 (-0 best, -5 worst)
RC -6.7 (-5 best, -11 worst)

The best advice I've gotten, which has helped me get into the -3 to 2 range, is writing a 3-5 word summary next to each paragraph.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I have been underlining and bracketing a lot but summarizing is something I have yet to commit to trying (Mainly because I feel like it takes away a valuable time). But I'm going to try a few passages tonight with your suggestion and will post how it went. Thanks again!

Don't underline or bracket; just do the short summary. Keep actively engaged with the passage, and see how this goes.abcdefg1234567 wrote:RamTitan wrote:The best advice I've gotten, which has helped me get into the -3 to 2 range, is writing a 3-5 word summary next to each paragraph.

Thanks! I just read an article by Mike Kim and his advice of seeing the forest and not the trees seems to be in line with your advice. Maybe I am too focused each detail and not enough with the overall objectives of each paragraph. I'll report back tomorrow. Thanks again.RamTitan wrote:Don't underline or bracket; just do the short summary.
