gluck. share your experience post-pt.
Freakin crushed it! Despite the fact that my brain felt like it was swimming in clam chowder, I got my fourth score in the 170s and my best RC score in a month.

PT78
LR: -6
AR: -2
RC: -2
Raw/Score: 91/170

Last PT on a high note! Bring this shit LSAC. I'm ready.
that's solid, instrumental, esp the RC part. i guess i am the only one who got screwed on 78 RC.

you had posted earlier that difficulty with RC. anything specific you did that helped?
Awesome score!! You're gonna kill this test!!

Appind- you're totally not the only one who bombed RC in 78. Trust me on that. Just did a few RC passages today and was back to my average so I definitely think that particular section was just especially hard

Studying powerscore's RC Bible helped refine my focus. Tracking viewpoints and never moving on in a passage without understanding what you just read and how it relates to the whole helps me most.

Whenever I can, I try to pre-phrase the answer quickly before I read the answer choices, and I read through all the answer choices before double checking the text if I double check it at all. And I make sure not to rush. The last rc where I was haemorrhaging points was in part because I tried to rush reading the last section so that I could get all the questions in on time. Doesn't work! Always better to get a solid understanding of the text and that will let you pick up the pace for the questions.
i have kinda understood that not rushing when reading the passage is the key. but that for me means about 5-6 mins reading the passage and so i run out of time. how much time you're spending, on average, now on reading the passage, and then to do its questions, respectively?

e: did pt-13 RC today for a -2 (1 of it's misbubble), but newer rc time's always an issue somehow

Interesting...Just checked my admissions ticket and it says "Show up no later than 8:30." Does that mean test starts then at 8:30 and not 8?

everyone's ticket says 8:30 and it has always been at 8:30. the test itself probably won't start till 9-9:30ish.

Am I allowed to bring my case for my glasses (and the accompanying lens cloth)? I don't see it stated in the ticket for the permitted items.

I read the passage in about 3 minutes give or take. On 5 question passages, I take about 6.5 minutes. For 6 and 7 question passages, about 7 minutes or so, and 8 questions take about 8. I'm pretty good about staying under the 8:45 time limit though so sometimes I'll intentionally slow down more for those 8 question passages. Some passages I don't take to as well and I've spent nearly four minutes reading it, but I don't think I've gone beyond that.

Jumping on the PT78 train:

LR: -1
LG: -2
LR2: -2
RC: -4
92/171

Yeah that token passage was ridiculous, thank god P4 was easy and I was able to finish it in 4 mins by just skimming through the passage.

Can't complain much with a 171, but with the 174-172-171-172-171 train that I had I just kinda have to accept that I won't be able to hit that 175+ target this time round, oh well.

Hey, ya never know! This is why I rarely do full PTs, to avoid a limiting mindset and feeling like I can't get beyond a certain range. I scored 4 points higher my first take than my highest PT at that point. With a 171 you know all you need to know; just gotta focus and let the magic happen on test day! And hope for a little luck! I think we underestimate how much luck is involved at the high scoring levels. There could be a game that resonates with you, where all the rules just click and you instantly memorize them. There could be a fun RC passage! Don't rule out that 175+

It could happen. I had a friend that went from 173~174 range to 179 on test day.
