This happens to me pretty often; it always causes me to pause for a few moments.

It happens a bit with LG, too. I'll see a game and think "oh this is like that other game".

Yeah - it is weird.

During my last diagnostic, I had a bit of a weird experience. I blew through game 1. I got to game 2, diagrammed it, and, for some reason, it just didn't feel as easy as it should be by the 3rd question, so I skipped the game and moved on. On game 3, the same exact thing happened. I moved on and went to game 4. Game 4 I breezed through. I went back to game 2 and 3, and, due to the time apart, the underlying issue just clicked. I finished the section with three minutes or so to spare and got -2 due to a reading error (probably should have checked over some answers)... That said, it was a good reminder that the section isn't over until the timer is up! A bit of a good experience (IMO) overall I wanted to share... hopefully, it helps someone else if you get stuck in LG... I think I'm going to be more active with this on LR... a fresh look can *really* open things up, and a handful of questions is usually enough to clear your mind of the question.

Your "completely destroyed" will be like -3 or so.. :)

You likely did fine.
Literally -12. Thanks, though, I appreciate your faith in me!

LR - fucking -4, -3, and (exp) -3, plus a few too many dumb mistakes on LG and RC.

I just need to put my nose to the grindstone and power through this next month, esp, with quickly diminishing spare time. Not sure why things slipped, but they did.

I felt this sensation last week and was so curious about it that I went back and tried to find the same question. It turns out the LR question was taken from the same article that was previously used for an RC passage. Since it's not really significant, I am not going to bother digging it up again, but I believe it was an LR about Leon Edel and something about literature and the RC passage seemed like a selection taken from an earlier chapter in the same book.

As we all know, there are a few topics that the LSAC really loves (oral history of Native Americans, anything African-American, women's suffrage). I don't think there is any doubt that they re-use source material for different sections. That would probably explain the "ghost question" sensation.

When was the last time you took a break?

Did you feel foggy when beginning the test?

If you look at my scores, I put together back-to-back 159s. I took a few days off and then devoted a few days to drilling. When I came back, my scores were much higher.

I kind of love when they just use first letters / initials instead of names for some questions. 'Which one of the following is an argumentative strategy that P uses in responding to M?' It just reeks of laziness.

if they use names in LG I read them as the first letter of each name anyway hehe

BR = 97/100 :| -1 RC, -2 LR2. Same one wrong and another one wrong. Gonna have to look these up. (13 and 17, if anyone has any insight?)

LR1 and RC were both a bunch of dumb mistakes - misreading and stuff. Oh boy...

SOOO the plan moving forward: - Work on LR!! Cut down on the dumb mistakes. Work on speed on all sections. Think I might start doing drills of new sets with 30 min time limits.

Wowwww, I'm sorry for that -5 lol. Rare that you see someone kill the other sections and then -5 on the other ones. But you -1'd on the experimental, so maybe you got tired.

In any case, if you crushed RC you're looking at 175+. Good job keep it up!

Yeah I can only do PTs like twice a week max, can't manage back-to-backs (due to busy schedule and my own endurance / lack thereof.) I was a bit foggy / nervous but not unusually so. I took a break just the other week because I got sick, so I think I'm just off the ball wrt LR for some reason. I think I just need to drill hard and stay vigilant.

I guess the good thing is I know this is well below my average/capabilities. So just gotta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM (sorry) and keep at it.

Man I haven't even looked at a 70+ test yet. Saving those for near the end.

I have to figure out a way to slow my mind down while reading, I read too fast and look past the right answer. I got wrecked on PT66 cause I read too fast. When I went back through on BR I had those "oh, duh" moments.

When the clock starts I'm like ERMEHGERDS BUBBLE IN ALL THE THINGS.

-0 on LG felt good, though. I know a lot of people got wrecked on the first game if they didn't push out a key inference according to JY.

I'm taking the rest of the week to just go over and drill Flaw and NA questions. Those are where i give up the most points within LR across all my PTs...blooop.

Feb 92 LR1 #6-#7...I got really confused. When I read this, I was thinking to myself, "What, a ripped off Reagan quote on the LSAT? The writers like Reagan?" Then I got to the answer choices and I was like, "Oh, okay. They don't like him. That makes more sense. Granted, that quote was probably one of the best quips/retorts in the history of debates.

Got my second 170+ score (171) Even though I thought I was struggling on RC, I got a -2. Only real disappointment was the AR where I again didn't make it to the last section. Filling in guesses still got me 2 of the 5 last questions though. Of the questions I got to though, I only missed five. That's pretty solid, just gotta keep working on my timing for AR.

Question: how do you diagram "except when"?

I ran into this on a principle (apply) question. I didn't know what to do, I treated it as an unless diagram but was worried perhaps I should diagram the when part as the sufficient condition.

Guys we are about a month away from the test. I hope I don't panic like I did in June. I just need to stay calm and realize that I know this shit, excluding some RC skills but I need to defeat this shit, not the other way around.

when and where = if so it would be the same as except if...

A except if B would be the same as

not B -> A
not A -> B

I play soccer except if it rains. This would seem to imply (to me) that we would want a conditional that shows I *always* play soccer if it does not rain and that the only situations in which I don't play soccer it rains. It guarantees that at least one of the two occurs. I also think that the phrasing would allow for playing soccer and it raining which would be allowed based on how I diagrammed above. I play soccer except if it rains. If it rains, we don't know anything... you could play soccer or you may not.

I'm fairly sure. I'd doubt check though.

Yeah I learned from the PS Bible that "unless, without, except, until, and if not" all follow the same formula in terms of diagramming

I know that once I get my consistency down that I'll be so much more gung ho for this damned test. I'm getting screwed over by one LR or one RC per practice test. It's infuriating to go LG-2;LR-1;RC-5 (I can even take doing better in my RC experimental section);LR-9... gah.

You can try out the Blueprint RC book. I've just started to read through it... although it's on my laptop so they keep referencing how long it is and I have zero idea how long it is! Either way, I haven't really gone through a books approach to RC yet.

Free on Amazon. Seems OK so far, but it may be a bit superfluous or kumbaya-y for my tastes.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
