Love that game. Finished my first day working FT today. Tired as a MF but gonna power through some LG and RC for a few hours. Was going to take a PT today but I'm thinking I may tone it back a bit this week after some of my recent performances and focus on getting my section scores on point again.amta wrote:ive done the bike game twice in the last week. its a motherfucker. When you convince yourself to turn off Netflix and do another set of games, only to pull out a set with two unfamiliar mapping games. Did not sign up for this. >_<

Gonna start running through games for 60-70 weekly. They seem to follow similar sort of patterns, so I feel I'll be able to nail it down best this way. Just went -1 on PT 60 in about 34:00 . That stupid pure sequencing game got me.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Didn't plan on doing a full PT tonight but wound up finishing and BRing all of PT 42 cause I felt like it (never thought I'd say that)
I finished bc I realized I think this was actually a fresh PT - I thought I had drilled it before but apparently not. Which kinda sucks because I would've saved it, but at least now I have an accurate gauge of my progress! I've scored 174, 174, and 175 on my 3 most recent PTs (all retakes)
I'm shocked at my immediate improvement in RC, and really bummed about my inability to go -0 on LG. When I BR, or take LG sections for a second time, I'll finish with 10 minutes to spare. I think the time spent figuring out the set-up is what's killing me, but I dunno...
Original score: 170
LG -3 (didn't finish...grr)
LR -3
RC -2
LR -3
BR score: 176
LG -0
LR -1
RC -2
LR -2

I'm starting to notice that my performance while I'm practicing tends to get worse as the evening wears on.... That's how you know it's time, I think.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
had class today and did a whole mess of LR. I changed up the memory method a little for me. I've noticed that while even reading very cautiously and purposefully slow that I finish almost every passage in around 2 minutes and maybe 2.5 minutes with briefly summarizing paragraphs in my head or convoluted sentences. What I did for two passages today (and will do for more)... I sometimes run over on the time for questions if there are eight for a passage.
3:00 to read; :30 to summarize; 3:30 to answer questions...
Oct 94 Passage 4 MM 7/7; BR 7/7
Dec 07 Passage 4 MM 7/8; BR 8/8 (45-60 over on questions)
after some of these, I'll just do 3:00 to summarize and read in my head while being mindful of whether I'm really get it or not. I need to switch up passage types though.

Cornell would be a whole lot nicer if you could attend from March through October and go intern somewhere warm in the winter.

Oh - for sure. Cornell probably has one of the nicest campuses of any universities in the country. It's large enough that the fact it is in the middle of nowhere isn't a big deal.proteinshake wrote:Cornell definitely has a nicer campus than most of the T14.34iplaw wrote:There are definitely worse places to end up.proteinshake wrote:have y'all seen Cornell's promo vid?? this thing is amazing: https://youtu.be/GuM8vTq0jd4

I'm not even applying to schools where it's winter almost year round, I just can't do it.

So just finished doing the Argument Part questions. 38/38, I still want to review some of the questions I was not 100% sure on. I found identifying the conclusion and subsidiary conclusion often provided me a roadmap to the correct answer.
Plan for the rest of the evening, review/watch the videos on the questions I wasn't 100% on.
I would say today was a good day, LR and LG was awesome, Simone Biles dominated gymnastics, and Michael Phelps got his 21st gold medal!!

Upside of living somewhere absolutely fucking frigid is that everywhere seems warm in comparison.34iplaw wrote:Oh - for sure. There are a few tricks to those (IIRC - someone verify)... one such one is below.
If there is an answer choice that says something is a premise and the other states it is a subsidiary conclusion, the subsidiary conclusion cannot be the correct answer choice.
Decided to do one more MM passage before bed
Oct 01 Passage 3 MM 7/7 BR 7/7 (3:00/:30/3:30 with 30 seconds to spare)
EDIT: Woah! LSAC upped my UGPA by 0.02!

Thanks! Yeah, your absolutely right! I checked a couple pages and the ones where the subsidiary conclusion was the correct answer, premise was not offered as an answer choice. However, one answer choice (where the subsidiary conclusion was the correct answer) an answer choice stated D) a particular example illustrating a general claim and while an example is distinct from a premise, couldn't it be considered a premise since it is offering support to the conclusion? Or is it simply since it is illustrating a general claim that might not be the conclusion it would not be considered a premise? Maybe I made that situation a bit too convoluted lol34iplaw wrote:Congrats!ngogirl12 wrote:So just finished doing the Argument Part questions. 38/38, I still want to review some of the questions I was not 100% sure on. Finished BR last night. Logics games went slow, but I was able to get to -0 going through them untimed. That RC performance was unacceptable. Most of the ones I missed were not difficult questions, and I just got sloppy. BR score:Pozzo wrote:169. Gah.Pozzo wrote:Taking my 15 in the middle of PT62, just finished up LG. Clearly the concepts are there, just need to work on timing and not being careless.

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that it the item cited wasn't an illustration and that is why subsidiary conclusion was the right answer in either event. I'm not certain whether illustrations are considered premises or not.ngogirl12 wrote:Thanks! Yeah, your absolutely right! PT 69:
LR: -1
LG: -6
RC: -4
LR: -2
Score: 169
On LG, I did the same thing I did last time - flipped a rule on a game (a very easy one), had to redo it, and thus fly through the last game to not run out of time.
RC feels a bit lucky. I tried a new strategy of trying to read the passage in 2 minutes 30 seconds tops, thus giving me more time to reference back. We'll see how the strategy works on PT 70; I will drill it with some old passages if need be.
As far as an overall strategy, I just tried to go as quickly as possible without hurrying. This cut down on a lot of the second guessing and looks like it helped my score.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
So I just downloaded this awesome app (polymail) which alerts you when someone reads your email. Always was looking for something like this. I emailed my recommenders like 2 weeks ago and I'm not sure if they either didn't see the message or ignored me. I'll wait another week and resend the messages using the app. If I see they read it and they don't respond then I know they have no interest in writing a letter. Helps save some time.
Also I actually got a response from one of my professors who said he'll be happy to write one for me and meet with me. Did really well in his class and it was really tough. So 1 down. How many more do you think I should get?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
