Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Finished off B.R. today for PT 65. Went 163->174 which is my highest BR so far so I guess at least I know what I'm doing
Went through an LR (-6) an LG (-3) and a RC (-5) each this morning as well as an old set of games. Really trying to get my LR to the -3/4 range, but I'm having a tough time balancing speed/accuracy right now. As it stands I know with practice I can get my LG down to perfect and my RC down to the -2/-3 range, but it just seems like I'm not having too much success with improving LR right now.

Overslept so I didn't get as much done as I'd like but morning prep definitely feels a lot better. Going to do a few of the most difficult games this evening and a couple new ones, ~2 LRs, some RC + RC memory method drilling. + workout, eat healthy, sleep, etc, etc.

My pre-test pump-up song is the Rocky theme song.

I have officially come across my favorite answer choice of all time in a parallel flawed methods of reasoning question.
Bruce wanted to eat the mincemeat pie. Unbeknownst to Bruce, the mincemeat pie was poisonous. So Bruce wanted to eat poison.

I feel like I do really well on flawed parallel methods of reasoning, but they just take time and like gut. Kind of looking forward to RC after these...haha.
Anyone else ever write over words in parallel reasoning questions? Sometimes, if I find it harder, I'll write the item from the stimulus being paralleled over the item in the answer choice... i.e. if money is paralleling time, I'll just write $$ over time.

I tend to underline, draw arrows, cross things out. Writing the parallel directly over is a good idea for the confusing questions.34iplaw wrote:favorite* ugh.TheMikey wrote:lol that a/c rings a bell34iplaw wrote:I have officially come across my favor answer choice of all time in a parallel flawed methods of reasoning question.

mmm I guess my current pump-up songs would be Sweatpants by Childish Gambino if I want something fast paced and Spirit of Life by Blackmill if I want something relaxing.

Just finished the paralleled flawed methods of reasoning. 75/80. Not the best, but, at the same time, many of these constitute the latter half of the test, so I'm pretty OK with it.
Onto RC.
Onto RC.

It sounds weird but I number/mark certain words in each sentence of the stimulus for parallel reasoning questions. Like:Alexandros wrote:I tend to underline, draw arrows, cross things out. Alex is cool, so he must have coolthing1 and coolthing2. I would put a 1 over "coolthing1" and a 2 over "coolthing2" and know that if an A/C says something like having only ONE thing and not 2, I know it's wrong. Or something, idk lol. I would do this consistently throughout the stimulus though, not just for 1 sentence.

Welp, I think I'm actually under the weather for real. Which is kind of a relief, because it might mean the reason I've been feeling like crap and doing poorly for the last few days may be something other than some fundamental character defect.

For people doing the memory method, do you then try the passage normally, or do you check your answers and see why you got stuff wrong.

I do the memory method and then BR that passage/section before checking my answers.34iplaw wrote:For people doing the memory method, do you then try the passage normally, or do you check your answers and see why you got stuff wrong.

Ok - thanks. I'll try it out. I should be able to do a good number of passages before 7:00 tonight. I may skip around homeworks a little so that I'm not doing this strictly with science passages or one other kind of passage.TheMikey wrote:I do the memory method and then BR that passage/section before checking my answers.34iplaw wrote:For people doing the memory method, do you then try the passage normally, or do you check your answers and see why you got stuff wrong.

Joining this thread now!
It's been 3+ years since I sat for the LSAT and I'm retaking in September. My new diagnostic was 6 points lower (163) than my February 2013 score (169) and, though it probably makes sense, I'm a little surprised at how I'm struggling to improve. It's only been a couple of weeks, but it's a weird feeling.
Took my first PT (72) since the diagnostic:
RC -6
LR -7
LR -6
LG -4
Score: 163 bleh
Anybody else retaking after what feels like a million years?

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
I'm glad I didn't retake right after my 2013 test, because I definitely wasn't in the right head space for it. But it's kind of annoying having to essentially re-learn a test that I knew fairly well, if not as well as I would have liked to.tofuspeedstar wrote:Ya, I sat October 2013.theothercat wrote:Joining this thread now!
