I've watched the youtube videos on The Trainers strategies for LR and LG when I first started. They were great for giving a quick crash course on all the sections. Haven't seen this one yet, looking forward to it.

7Sage has absolutely saved me with logic games. It is so helpful to see what to do, and how to approach the questions in real time.proteinshake wrote:I can see the appeal of 7Sage now, watching a video is so much more relaxing and nicer. though idk if it's as effective...?Barack O'Drama wrote:proteinshake wrote:thanks for the share! I've often wondered if the videos are as effective and I think it is contingent on your learning style. I definitely learn well by watching videos and actually seeing it done. I think the one downside are the people that just watch the videos and don't really practice the skills they learn. Also, I worry that not being able to just open a book and look up something real quick may be a problem with the videos. But most people have a prep book or two to use in conjunction with the videos.

Another completely unproductive day. (LSAT wise- I successfully moved apartments so there's that.) Only did 3 lg sections this evening, no lr or rc, first two went ok then absolutely bombed the third, (then promptly got too exhausted to do anything.) Going to wake up early and photocopy all the games from 19-28 tomorrow and try to have a productive day. Hard work will pay off.
Goodnight everyone! Enjoy the weekend

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WELCOME JUNE WAITERS
Messed up my math on LR questions. Only had 20 to do tonight.
Going to sleep now to try and be more productive tomorrow.
Got 29/30 on them...one was a really beyond silly mistake. I think I stopped midquestion and, by the time I got back, I forgot that I hadn't crossed out answer A so I forced E to be true in my head... like the E could possibly be a 1V answer [still have to make too many assumptions IMO] but answer choice A is like a straight MBT definition in this case. Silly water inertia and electric induction.
Edit: going to watch some Chef's table before sleep.

I'm moving myself soon. Probably within the next couple weeks. What a pain, but my new place is going to be a lot bigger and nicer, so that's always something cool to look forward to. I feel ya on it being another unproductive day. I am actually taking it easy this weekend. I've been having symptoms of burnout. I think I went for 3 weeks straight without a day off. Tomorrow I'm going to put in 4 hours or so, and same on Sunday. Monday I will start putting in 6 hours or so again.
Sounds like you got a good plan on moving forward though. Sweet! Congrats on completing your move and have a good night

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WELCOME JUNE WAITERS
Well after one minimally productive day and one break day, I finally got back to doing stuff today. Finished up the last hour of the 7sage intro stuff, and then retook the June 07 PT. I had already taken it before starting 7sage, but don't have access to any other tests right now, and I wanted to follow the curriculum. Also, I never actually reviewed any questions the first time, I just marked the scantron, so it's not like I remembered what the right answers were, especially since its been a few weeks since I took it.
Either way, FWIW I went up slightly. 157 on the first shot, 160 this time. Went from -10 in LG to -6, and stayed at -2 for the first LR section. Don't remember what I got the first time on the second LR and on RC, but this time went -4 and -10 respectively.
I think the -10 is more about stamina and testing environment than anything else. Been a while since I've done standardized testing like this and I'm PTing in a small hotel room. Not exactly cultivating focus.
Still, obviously RC should be my main focus of improvement moving forward. I feel like once I actually start learning about logic games they'll come naturally to me, and I think I'm naturally inclined for LR from all the philosophy classes I've taken. I think if I really grind I can get both of those down to at a -0 in due time.
Three more weeks abroad until I get home and can start getting other study materials. Let's see what I can learn in the meantime.

You know, LR is the only area I've never drilled. I should probably change that as I approach test day, but for now RC is a much bigger problem.TheMikey wrote:Have fun ;P I'm gonna do LR stuff todaySweetTort wrote:Yet another day of LG/RC drilling. All of this is starting to blend together.

Really? Wow, so how did you go about learning the question types? Did you just do sections and BR only or did you have a book? Either way, all of your sections are amazing when broken down into how many you got wrong, but I see your RC concern.SweetTort wrote:You know, LR is the only area I've never drilled. Good morning all. Feeling better today.
Working my way through the RC homework focused on accuracy over speed still. 3 passages to start the morning. Didn't miss a question and did not have to change an answer while eliminating other choices. Either way, it's a good way to build confidence and the such in ones reasoning abilities. Often, I am spending time just reinforcing the answer choice I gravitate towards. Going to go into the LR now.

Yeah.. My lease is up at the end of August, so I am moving a little early to avoid that interfering with the LSAT. An amazing place happened to open up about 5 minutes from where I'm at now, and my landlord agreed to let us out of the lease early.

That is what I'm doing. A couple of chapters of Manhattan LR this morning and drilling! Hope I see some improvements soon!

Tbh, LR was natural for me, even on the diagnostic. I've done debate for 6-ish years, so arguments are very mathematical in my head, if that makes sense. Though I did read the Manhattan LR guide, which helped. Tbh, the biggest help I've gotten in LR was learning to bracket the conclusion before you read the question stem.

If I could go back in time, I would have majored in philosophy. I feel like my philosophy courses at UG were the only ones I really learned anything from.

Then again, if I could go back in time, I would've told myself to fix my personal life and personal health before getting to the topic of UG courses. hahaSweetTort wrote:proteinshake wrote:I feel this. 4 years as a philosophy major made LR much easier!SweetTort wrote:TheMikey wrote:Really? Hmm, I've only taken a Political Philosophy course but my professor sucked so I didn't learn much from it. As a psych major I don't think any of it helps on the LSAT, lmao.SweetTort wrote:proteinshake wrote:I feel this. 4 years as a philosophy major made LR much easier!SweetTort wrote:TheMikey wrote:Really? I'm not done listening to it, but so far it's quite interesting!

Hey bbs, checking in b/c I'm 90% resigned to the fact that I'm going to retake. I moved on the day I got my score back, was REALLY hoping I could throw away my LSAT books before moving to another city but alas.... here I be.
