Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
First LSAT related nightmare - had a dream that when the proctor passed out tests, someone with a name really similar to mine got mine and I got hers. I went through the last two sections before realizing the mistake and they wouldn't let me fix it and said just to send it in. The person who got mine was aiming for a 150 - not that there's anything wrong with that but I've never scored that low in my life (even with my cold no study take.)
I woke up really stressed out this had happened and then realized there was no possible way for that to have occurred. Phew.

I'm like 100% certain that schools just send those out to whomever, in an attempt to pump up app numbers, in an attempt to push down admit %

I suppose that's the case for some schools...but there were a couple top 20 that reached out to me, offered fee waivers, blew my e-mail up...I was like wtf why, I'm significantly below their median (some even below 25th) and they still accepted me with scholarship offers...probably the more likely explanation in my case is that they want a boost in their GPA, and mine would def help that. Guess it just depends on the person they're reaching out toHelioze wrote:AbbeyS wrote:Interesting. Yeah. I tend to think school's are/were legitimately interested in my 173. (My GPA, on the other hand, maybe not so much, though it's not totally awful, just not very good.)AbbeyS wrote:I suppose that's the case for some schools...but there were a couple top 20 that reached out to me, offered fee waivers, blew my e-mail up...I was like wtf why, I'm significantly below their median (some even below 25th) and they still accepted me with scholarship offers...probably the more likely explanation in my case is that they want a boost in their GPA, and mine would def help that. Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
lmao no. I just wandered over here out of boredom. I took my LSAT last June, prayed while I was waiting for my score that would be the only time I had to take it, and lo-- so it was. I literally jumped for joy when I got that score. It's right around where I was PT'ing, so I'm not sure I could've done much better than that. I made 3 kind of stupid mistakes, but I'd probably make that many again if I retook anyway, so.AbbeyS wrote:173 and you retook? Dang. Lol I'd be thrilled with thattsujimoto74 wrote:Yeah. If you've been waitlisted and increase your score in Feb, will you still have to wait for May (or whenever the schools begin looking again at waitlisted applicants) to get off the waitlist? Or could a higher score get me an acceptance well before then?

This is worse than being a little kid waiting for Christmas morning. This is my third time and I still can't handle this crap. Why do they do this? They're final chance to inflict torture on us? It's an effing scantron. It doesn't take that long to get them there and scan them. After the cancellation period pass there is no longer any excuse to be holding out on us like this.splitterfromhell wrote:LitigatingLiar wrote:Is it gray day yet? Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
This is random but...
I've been making a list of things I wanna start doing more & places I wanna see & all that for the next few months before I sell my soul, aka law school. I think it's the ideal time to do these things because my job situation is...less than ideal.
Here are some of mine...
Visit my sister in New Orleans, see the Grand Canyon, do the full bourbon trail here in Kentucky, revisit Mammoth Cave here in Kentucky, hike in Red River Gorge (KY), go back to Disney World...also wanna get back into piano lessons, start doing art like I used to & start making quilts again (something I started with my grandma who makes these super intricate, beautiful quilts but my machine broke). I just wanna experience more of life while I can!
So what's on everyone's pre-law school bucket list?!

Disney World for the win! Although I'm applying for the 2016-2017 cycle, the summer before law school I'm planning on visiting Italy. I've always wanted to go there! Another thing on my bucket list before law school is sleepAbbeyS wrote:This is random but...

I've been contemplating what I want to do over the next 6ish months for some time now. I am deciding between teaching the LSAT in Long Island for Kaplan (where I live), moving to Vail, CO to coach HS lacrosse, work on the mountain, and do some snowboarding (I'd have my living/food free of charge), or do some traveling/volunteer work in Thailand. First two options I save/make money...in the latter I spend lots of money. I figure this is my only window of time to travel though...idk what to do lol!AbbeyS wrote:This is random but...

Also Epcot is my favorite place in the world ! I have a friend who makes cool quilts, they are the best gifts to give.

So on that note, traveling internationally isn't actually that bad. I admit, roadtripping around the US is definitely cheaper if you have a car, but if you have to fly and pack light (*cough cough* Spirit *cough*) then I'd go abroad. Plane tickets are super cheap and the Euro exchange rate is fabulous right now. I'd just keep an eye out, because you never know. My flight to Vienna this winter was the same as a flight to California.AbbeyS wrote:Yeah I love Disney...I went on probably 18 trips before I ended up moving there to work in the parks for an internship...twice. lolTheMikey wrote:Disney World for the win! I'm probably applying in the 2017/2018 cycle if not a year later, but my post-graduation bucket list is to go on a trip with my college or high school friends, preferably internationally. I would also not mind doing the super cliche backpacking through Europe but in my case it would be "flying from city to city and staying in youth hostels because I hate nature."
Pre-law school summer I imagine all I'll want to do is sleep haha.

Yeah I also have an awkward amount of time left where it's too short to get a conventional job but too long to not do anything at all. Quilts def make meaningful gifts. My grandma made us each one when we were born & gives them for weddings & stuff now. Even sews little messages on the underside. I love little things like that

Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
You're right. I will probably drive for all my US travels this summer...a good ole road trip with good music is actually kinda therapeutic to me. I probably could make it work traveling internationally but I don't really have anybody I can go with...my friends are all working full-time & wont take time off...my best friend is getting her PhD and won't even come home for a weekend visit...and the rest are in serious relationships and are attached at the hip. So it's just lil ole me for now. I don't mind doing US travels alone, or with my sister.azaleafire wrote: So on that note, traveling internationally isn't actually that bad.
