West coast just wrapped. Overall impression: easier than Sept, especially RC. LG was harder for sure. Realized I missed a key (easy) inference on game 3, which sucked up my time. Realized on the second to the last question on game 4, that there's a HUGE inference that unlocks the game, but it was too late. LR seemed pretty on par from recent PTs. My score is all wrapped up in those games. I legit put myself anywhere 170-180.

-10 sounds about right, especially given that Sept was just -12. Had a hard time with LG, but I think that's on me, not necessarily the difficulty.bearedman8 wrote:West Coast back and checking in.
Wow, I'm shocked at how easy I felt like everything was. I'm getting over a cold so I've been a bit groggy and I definitely didn't feel like I was there 100% today, but the exam honestly felt like a -10 curve to me.

Looking at the powerscore forums for real questions now. Looks like 1 and 3 were real for me.fips tedora wrote:I had the same, and I believe it was the second one that was the experimental section. I thought I did well on LR this time, but I thought the same thing back in Sept and went -11 so idk. I didn't even freak out on the fourth game, I just didn't have time to give it my full thought because game three siphoned a lot of time away. Also the first question on the last game took more time to work through than I think most questions of that type normally do.

Checking in. Trying to figure out which LR was experimental. Would someone who didn't have LR experimental tell me if they had a stimulus on (a) octopuses choosing red balls or (b)a tickling machine inducing laughter. Also, game 4, HAH. Game 3 was a massive time sink. RC was relatively OK.

Hi I am hoping to take the September/October 2017 LSAT. It seems from this test that there were some who were caught by surprise by logic games at the end before the essay. Is this the experimental section?? If not, what are ways to prepare for the logic games that were seen on this test???

Re: The Official December 2016 Waiters Group
Not everyone has the same experimental section. I remember for the September exam I had an experimental RC that was different than what a bunch of other people had. (And I would know if I was mistaken, given that one of my exp passages was what I did my undergraduate thesis about).dontsaywhatyoumean wrote:I had experimental LR and I don't remember either of those questions LOL.Instrumental wrote:I don't remember seeing either of those questions (I had an experimental LG).brewpub16 wrote:Checking in. Re: The Official December 2016 Waiters Group
The game people are stressed about was not an experimental section. LSAT has begun to make the last game a bit off kilter from the norm. Not sure there is a most effective way to prepare for it beyond making sure you're really good at sequence and grouping games so you can breeze through those and have enough time to handle the odd ball games. For the virus game and this one, I think they make the questions a little easier to compensate for the odd scenarios, but still it can be difficult just because it's new and you may be low on time if one of the games is a time sink (as game 3 was this time around).prospectivepigeon wrote:Hi I am hoping to take the September/October 2017 LSAT. were the buildings or real estate question and art hanging on the wall questions part of experimental logic games?

That was the real games section.prospectivepigeon wrote:were the buildings or real estate question and art hanging on the wall questions part of experimental logic games?
My experimental games section ended with musicians. The real one ended with the buildings.

How does one know which of the two logic games is the experimental one?

I ended up finishing all 4 games, yet the 4th was the hardest. RC was easier than expected, and I enjoyed the passages. LR wasn't too hard either. The curve won't be more than -11.

International test centre check in!
Completely different test (thank god, that LG section seemed rough) but still had the same writing sample

The experimental section is usually (always?) in the first half of the exam. Also it is usually easier and has broken questions (pretty sure I ran into a question with multiple correct answers in the experimental LG, but maybe not).prospectivepigeon wrote:How does one know which of the two logic games is the experimental one?

Because people have different experimental sections. I had two RC sections so I know the LG sections with the buildings, paintings and mystery clues is the real one.prospectivepigeon wrote:How does one know which of the two logic games is the experimental one?

Re: The Official December 2016 Waiters Group
It's impossible to tell until after the exam is over. Every LSAT will always have the following sections, in variable order, a reading comprehension, analytical reasoning (logic games), two logical reasoning, and one experimental. The experimental can be any of the other three sections.prospectivepigeon wrote:How does one know which of the two logic games is the experimental one?
So if you have 2 logic games sections, you know that one of them was experimental but you don't know what one (or 2 rcs, or 3 LRs). Everyone has the same sections (although in a jumbled order) except for the experimental, so you can find out afterwards which was experimental because other people won't have taken it.
So I had RC > LR > LG > LR > LG, so I know that LG was my experimental and I see here that the 1st LG was experimental because everyone had the 2nd LG set.
