I haven't done 75, but 76 and 78 were pretty easy. I still can't believe 79 was only -12, that test was savage. Brutal RC and games were just cruel.amta wrote:im hoping LSAC got their tough test for the year out of the way with 79, but who knows. 75 and 76 were easy compared to 77 imo.dj9i27 wrote:RC imo was standard, not easy but I would have rather had 77s RC than 79s RC. Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Good Luck!!!
Just bombed another PT
I was so disgusted with how crummy my performance was that I did not attempt the 4th section, just packed my bags and left the library. The sad thing is it is not even a lack of knowledge or mastery. Just a bunch of stupid reading/timing errors couple with anxiety on the PT I took today and some recent PTs.
My power went out less than a week ago, and I was hammering out sections of 4 logic games in under 30 minuted by candle light. Yesterday, I went -0 in 27 minutes on 26 difficult flaw questions (the question type marked by my 7sage account as highest priority).
Fucked up in the head, got to get my mind right.
Anyone else experiencing uncharacteristic performances recently?

Figured that I should check in. Gotta hit 100 posts so that I can PW in the waiters thread. Did my last PT today.
PT68:
RC: -4
LR1: -0
LR2: -0
LG: -0
-4/178. Did RC in 33 minutes then had to run to the bathroom. Kept the timer going so I lost time at the end of RC/beginning of LR1, but it probably didn't matter.
Gonna do 2 RC sections + 2 games sections each day until Saturday. Games sections will be back to back in 55 minutes total. Driving to the test center each day so that Saturday will seem more normal.
Lmk if anyone has any last minute LR questions. I normally finish an LR section in ~22 minutes and I'm very confident I'll go -0 to -2 max combined on Saturday.

PT 66

LR2: -1
Raw Score 98 --> 179
I was nervous to take a full PT today for fear of not doing well and messing with my confidence. I'm happy I did though this gives me a little reassurance.

Final one before game day!
PT 70
172 -9
LR1 -1
RC -5
LG -1
LR2 -2
The passage about wealth and happiness absolutely kicked my ass. I thought I understood it but the questions quickly informed me that I did not. Also thought LR2 was tough - I flagged 6 questions.
The only thing I'd seen on that test though was one game and one RC passage so I'm thrilled with my fairly fresh 172! Good luck to everyone this weekend!

I'd have to check the actual game (will later), but the language of that sentence does not indicate that every flower has to be used at least once.

Thanks a lot you two.
The thread that keeps on giving.
I wonder if this wait will be harder than the first time I took it, just because I'll expect a good enough score this time.
Edit, just noticed I missed a question because I misread passage as paragraph. I wish I'd stop making these kinds of mistkaes.

Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Good Luck!!!
Advice, please!
Hey guys, unfortunately I just found this forum and it's helped me a lot the past couple days. I'm taking the test this Saturday although I know it is very strongly advised against in my circumstances - I am EXTREMELY unprepared and still scoring in the low 160s - my target was a 170.
But here is the catch - I just decided to retake the test in February. While it would be wise(r) to just wait for next year's admission-year, I cannot. I am an international student on a visa, which expires in July 2017. If I don't get accepted to another program by then, I have to leave the country. I have finished my bachelors in an American University this past May and am currently working as a Legal Assistant in a law office (my 1-year visa extension is in progress right now). I have decent softs (10+ leadership positions in Uni and outside NPOs), 4 languages (fluent), and my GPA is 3.96.
My dream school is Duke, but with these PTs there is absolutely no way I can score high enough for them. I am also applying for dual degrees in International and Comparative Law (LLMs).
My question is: is taking the February LSAT a good idea?
I tried to study on my own for a month and a half, with books from the LSAC, Kaplan, and a couple other publishers. Probably got about 100+ hours total and increased from a 151 to a 163 in that period of time (October to this week). My home country is in an economic crisis so I could not afford a prep course - but I have talked to the parents and am going to enroll in one as a Christmas gift. (thanks mom and dad). I was always an extremely determined student and all that bla bla bla, but the languages barrier of English being ,y third language caught up to me and that is hindering my score - something I believe the prep course would GREATLY help with.
For TT and TTT schools, would a jump from a low-160s to a high-160s benefit in anything scholarship related?
Also, some top schools like Georgetown and Vandy have accepted a "request" for holding my application for the February test.
(And kids, don't take your circumstances for granted. I'd give ANYTHING to have just another year to work and study so I could stay in this country with a better prospect for Law School)

Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Good Luck!!!
Duke's application due date is listed as February 15th, so even if you take the test in February, I don't think you'll be able to apply until next cycle opens. I really don't know where your home country is or how the visa program works, but is it possible to to get to one of these test centers and then reapply for a visa?: http://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/testing-loc ... ernationallawsforeign wrote:Advice, please!

If you are already getting low sixties and aren't a native speaker, you'll probably be able to crush the LSAT in due time. I wouldn't take the February LSAT if you can take the test at an international test center later in 2017.
And yeah, with TT schools especially, having high scores is going to give you more bargaining power and make you more competitive for top scholarships.

Feel like this has been asked 20 times but thoughts on doing a test tomorrow (Wed)? I wouldn't be able to do it until about 7:30 PM. I haven't done 78 yet so it would be that one. Should I do it timed? Untimed? Unscored? Not at all?

Re: The Official December 2016 Study Group - Good Luck!!!
I just did a lot of drilling with individual LR sections and about 3 PTs each week. I would circle all the ones that I struggled with and then go over each one tediously regardless whether I got them right or not. There was no real big method to my madness, just practice. Also, I always always try to predict the answer before looking at the choices. I feel like it mentally helped me feel more in control of the test, rather than at its mercy.Mikey wrote:Sweet score!! And now to return the 7 dollar watch from Walmart. You wouldn't believe how loud this thing ticks!

Planning on doing that one tomorrow morning.
