I think I've made a huge mistake. A warning to those of the future.

Post by lollsat » Wed Nov 25, 2015 9:08 pm

 My mistake is that I left the most recent PTs 70s for the last 2-3 weeks before the exam. My personal opinion is that there are subtle/not so subtle changes in the LR section. Where I used to consistently score -3 per section in LR. Now I'm getting up to -10 wrong in a section. Ordinarily this would not be a problem, but with about 8 days from the exam this definitely hit me in terms of morale.

My only recourse now is to thoroughly blind review every LR question and hope for the best on test day. I'm sorry for adding another thread on this, as there are a lot of people commenting on the same PT70+ phenomena. I feel like in general test prep, people downplay the changes in the recent exams, and give the advice to take the latest PTs as a lead up to the exam. I think this advice is misleading for some of us who might be hit hard by the changes. The advice should be to take the recent exams much much earlier in order to have ample time to adjust.

Possible you're just burned out. They're a wee bit different, but you shouldn't be doubling your incorrect answers over it.

Thanks for your posting, I am in your team. Just want to let you know that some one who scored under 160 before the test day and finally got an high 160, which is enough to send him in T14. So, cool down.

In my opinion, people overstate the importance/magnitude of the LSAT's evolution. I saved all of my 60s PTs until 2-3 weeks before the exam, and I didn't do a single 70s PT, but I still ended up with a good score. I concede that the only downside to doing recent PTs is how much they cost, but practicing with older exams is definitely not the end of the world.

No worries op, I did the exact same thing, left the recent preptests until the week right before testday. I was panicking when I started dropping 6-7 points compared to the 2-3 points before. It's probably just burnout, just make sure you are doing ample review and maybe take a breather. If it helps at all, I ended up scoring higher than my practice averages on testday.

The only mistake you've made is convincing yourself you've made a mistake.

Srsly. Just take the LSAT and do well. You're finding a reason to justify a low score as if you've already received a low score.

Thats very inspiring and encouraging. Thanks, though I am not the OP. ;)

I don't think that's a problem. If you consistently score well in earlier PTs then it's only a matter of getting-used-to-the-new-LR.

I don't think there's that substantial of a difference in LR sections to cause such a big drop; I can see the evolution of the test causing a 1-3 point difference, but not 7 questions. Like every other person has said, it sounds like you're burned out.
