how much time do you guys typically have to answer questions in the last passage after reading the passage?

Post by flash21 » Sun Nov 15, 2015 4:13 pm

I'm finding that I have about 5 minutes to answer the questions on the final passage after I read the passage and I feel like its not enough. feeling rushed a lot of the time on the end of RC.. how much time do you guys typically have at the end

5 minutes is pretty typical and I would imagine is about how long you take to answer the questions on the other passages as well.

5 minutes x 4 passages = 20 minutes which means you take about 3:45 to read each passage. You should have plenty of time to answer the questions in 5 minutes.

I guess the other possibility is that you're a speed reader who gets through the passages really fast and then spends extra time on questions.

How long does it usually take you to answer the questions on passages 1-3?

5 minutes are more than enough for questions if you fully understand the passage. The thing is many people, myself included, did not fully grasp what the author was saying before rushing to questions.

hey, i had this problem too, so i started skipping over the comparative passages and saving them for last. they are a lot easier to rush through since both passages are short and therefore necessarily less dense/complicated.

initially thought that you meant 5 mins for reading and answering qs on the 4th psg. but only answering qs on the 4th in 5 min would be normal even among perfect rc scorers.

Okay thanks for replies guys. I think I'll try to be more aware of how much time I spend on questions "spinning my wheels". I think that may be the issue at hand here.

appreciate it!!

For the past 3 PTs, the 5 minute noti ALWAYS goes off when I'm on my 1st paragraph of my last passage.

I know that some people suggested tackling the longest questions first, but I have yet to give that a try.
I realized that scoring wise, I get - 1 or 0 wrong on the last passage. Ironic, since I spend the least time. I get the most Qs wrong on the passage I spend most time.

I think this is because I'm not fully understanding the passage I spend most time on.

Confused -> spend more time on each Qs
