Test anxiety and unusual circumstances?

Post by allpal » Mon Nov 09, 2015 6:28 pm

I've been doing practice questions for the LSAT since I started college because I go to a relatively easy art school. I knew going in that this could make things more difficult in terms of applying to law school (for entertainment law), because if I had transferred to Syracuse University to major in political science as I originally wanted to after freshman year I'm sure this would be a cake walk. However, I continued in my Music Business degree at a media/film/arts college for financial reasons and it has provided much better insight to the industry itself.

I am an avid reader and writer. I have no problems with the reading comprehension and minimal/easily fixable issues when it comes to over-analyzing on the analytical reasoning. I struggle with anxiety, in this case test anxiety, and when it came to taking the LSAT in October I scored a measly 134. I have been taught many different times how to do logic games and I still can't get through the questions. I also ran out of time on more than one section, either answering none of the last 5 or so questions or completely guessing.

This summer I took an online course where I learned how to draw out the rules/diagrams and everything correctly but for some reason I keep getting answers wrong. I would score in the 150s on those diagnostics but practice tests don't take as long as the real thing.

I also had a panic attack the night before the October exam and still felt anxious in the morning so took a bit more of my medication to curb the stress. I was completely relaxed for the exam but it made me too lax... I didn't feel pressed for time and I was in no hurry so my score suffered.

My case is somewhat of a unique one. I'm an art school student because I love music and the community and I've always wanted to contribute by going into music law. My GPA is a 3.6 with honors program recognition. Is it possible to raise my score 10 points so I can even be considered? What do I do to relieve anxiety without compromising time? I'm taking the exam again in December because I know I'm capable it's just getting past my cluttered mind...
