Re: Mentally Preparing for LSAT "Curveballs"
Well if you get ridiculously hard questions that are impossible to prep for, then you get ridiculously hard questions that are impossible to prep for.
So there's not much you can do there except realize everyone has the same questions and just do the best you can.

Prepare a your methods and practice them until you are very confident. If you're talking about dealing with the anxiety, it's just like dealing with any aspect of the test: prepare as much as you reasonably can and understand this is the only thing you can do.
In all honesty if you come across anything on any lsat that is "rediculously" difficult I think you need to reevaluate the utility of your methods. Some things are hard and others are really hard , but in my opinion if you are a 170+ scorer, then everything on any lsat is manageable.

Is a LG question that doesn't exactly mirror the pattern of one you've studied for really going to send you off the rails? If you know your stuff you should be able to fall back on the "logic" part. And sometimes there are hard questions. I assume you aren't PTing at 180 - do all the answers you get wrong on a normal test mess up your mojo? I don't believe your mental state is truly as fragile as that.

Re: Mentally Preparing for LSAT "Curveballs"
There are a million things that could go wrong on an LSAT, once you start letting anxiety color your perspective. Just focus on the things that you can do well. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, as they say. If you go the extra mile of seeking out and doing those "insanely hard" passages or games from the past, you'll come to realize that they are all solvable by the same forms of deduction.Phoenix97 wrote:How did those of you who took the test deal with the anxiety of possibly getting an insanely hard LG or RC passage?
Part of me is worrying that no matter how hard I prep, I still may get some ridiculously hard questions that destroy my chances of reaching my target score.
So basically, you should relax. Prep hard and chill out
